12/31/00 10:29pm PST	The Echoing Green is featured on the cover of the January/February issue of 7ball Magazine, a Christian music publication! More info as it becomes available.
12/31/00 10:19pm PST	Joey B. posted in the Fan Forum with information on a slightly modified mix of "Goodbye". Apparently Joey wasn't entirely happy with the original mix's vocals and did some last-minute tweaking. The new mix should be available shortly on MP3.com; I'll post an update as soon as I confirm it's up. In the mean time, hit the Forum for more details from Joey on the changes.
12/29/00 4:03pm PST	In its first day on the New Wave charts at MP3.com, "Goodbye" is #1! It's #18 on the Alternative charts (which includes New Wave plus several other genres). Also, the Dreamtraveler remix of "Liberation" shot straight to #32 on the Melodic Trance charts! Power to the people!
12/29/00 9:35am PST	One of the remixes that will be featured on the "Supernova" single has followed "Goodbye" to MP3.com. Look for the Dreamtraveler remix of "Liberation" (for more information on Dreamtraveler, check out his web site). Excellent trance remix of a great song!
12/28/00 9:58am PST	THE SILENCE IS BROKEN!! Exciting news from Joey via a new Echolalia update! Here's a summary of the update since it's not online anywhere else (but shame on you if you're not signed up for Echolalia!!) A Different Drum will be releasing a brand-new Evergreen Collection. This is the one promised long ago which is a double-CD set with greatest hits on the first disc and lots of remixes on the second. The coolest part is that Joey has set up a survey where Echoing Green fans can vote for their favorite songs to be included on the first disc! The "Supernova" vinyl and CD singles are essentially done and will shortly be in production. A premiere of new song "Goodbye" from the long-awaited Music From The Ocean Picture album will be available within the next few days on MP3.com. You can download a vocal-less sneak peak that Joey says he used to write the lyrics to the song here - and head to the Fan Forum for the lyrics and more information. UPDATE: It's here! "Goodbye" is now available for listen or download from MP3.com! This means the vocal-less version is now offline. Also, if you plan to listen to the song online, be sure to add it to your MyMP3.com account (there's a button for it right next to the song) to help out The Echoing Green.
10/7/00 12:27pm PST	Word from A Different Drum is that the self-titled album from The Echoing Green is now out of print. If you've been waiting to get it for some reason, act quickly, as the remaining supplies in stores will be dwindling. ADD has a stock of them left, so if you're looking to get one, stop by their web site.
10/6/00 10:07pm PST	The Red Hill Records Echoing Green web site is now up and running! Head there to download MP3s, read quotes from Joey, get info on Supernova and check out the super-cool Electronic Press Kit (high-bandwidth users only).
9/25/00 10:00am PST	Joey just put up a link in the Fan Forum to a new sneak preview of a remix of "Liberation"! It's a very club-oriented mix for the 12" single done by The Dreamtraveler, apparently a known trance entity. Head to the Forum ASAP and grab it, or if the post has expired download it direct from here
9/22/00 11:35pm PST	I think Joey carefully times his big announcements for when I'm off the grid for some reason and can't update the site! Again I'm late, this time because of a business trip - hopefully the trend will not continue...anyway, on to the news. First and foremost, the release date for Supernova has come and gone. Unfortunately, no stores seem to have it yet. The latest word from Joey on the Fan Forum is that next Tuesday, 9/26/00, everyone should have it in stock. Of course, it doesn't hurt to check stores anyway. The "Supernova" 12" single/CD single (not to be confused with the album) is coming along well according to another Forum post. There will be three remixes on the record and seven on the CD, with both "Supernova" and "Liberation" getting the treatment. The current MP3.com version of The Evergreen Collection is going to be removed shortly since an official version from A Different Drum will be arriving soon on 2 CDs! Joey promises all-new remixes from familiar faces like The Nine and System22 among others. It should be "rad". The official site, Echocentral, is still undergoing renovation since Joey took some time out for another artistic project. He promises it will return soon with cool new multimedia including a downloadable movie file of the ultrarare "Defend Your Joy" video! Not to be lost in all the Supernova hubbub is the "other" Echoing Green album, the oft-delayed A Different Drum release Music From The Ocean Picture. Joey says it's coming along well and he'll actually be posting a preview song sometime next week. Definitely watch the Fan Forum and this space for details. In other MFTOP news, the cover song on the album will be "Ceremony" by Joy Division/New Order. Finally, Joey's also been busy doing vocals for a System22 project called Velocity Trip. The song is called "Follow" and a clip of that should be available on the Forum shortly as well. DANG!! All that in less than a week...but I gotta say it's a great time to be an Echoing Green fan!

8/20/00 12:58am PST	Joey just posted a link in the Fan Forum to a new remix of "Supernova" by Deepsky, longtime friends of Joey's that have done remix work for The Echoing Green on Science Fiction and produced the self-titled album. Even cooler is the news that there is a confirmed 12" record featuring that track and undisclosed others that will be released shortly after Supernova hits stores September 19th. For those of us who don't have turntables (which would be me), Joey also promised to release all the mixes on a DAM CD from MP3.com. Be sure to read the post in the Forum and grab the file, or you can listen to it directly here.
8/03/00 9:36pm PST	I have to apologize - I've just moved to another state and so missed two critical news items in the last two weeks. Joey recently announced on the Fan Forum that he is releasing early Echoing Green material through MP3.com as promised at the last EG chat. The first CD (of what will hopefully be at least two) is called Oceanaria v1.0 and features the following tracklisting of pre-Defend Your Joy material: 1. Ocean Chorus (intro) 2. A Second Chance 3. Enter Love (Re-entry mix) 4. Stay Awake (demo version) 5. Deep Inside Your Heart 6. Arrival 7. Don't Run Away 8. Defend Your Joy (demo) 9. Terra Firma You can download samples of all the songs from the Echoing Green MP3.com site, and be sure to check out Joey's post in the Forum for more details on the history of the songs. The other big news for everyone that missed out on the brief release of The Evergreen Collection late last year (see below) is that Joey has made it available on MP3.com again. While there is no evidence to suggest it will be available for a limited time, it might be wise to grab it right away if you missed it and the super-cool "Aurora 2000"... (From now on, news updates should be back to normal)
7/17/00 3:08pm PST	Joey just posted a sneak peak of the "Yesterday's Taking Over" video on Echocentral for all of us with very high-speed connections. The file is in QuickTime format (requires QuickTime 4.0) and is 64MB in size. Hit the Fan Forum or this direct link.
7/17/00 1:30pm PST	The official Echoing Green web site, Echocentral, is in the process of being updated into a super-cool new format for the year 2000. Be sure to watch this page and the Fan Forum for the latest EG news and site info. Also of interest: Joey is taking a survey in the Forum regarding what kind of Internet connection everyone has (so as to determine whether or not to post high-bandwidth items like MP3s). Make your voice heard!
7/05/00 4:15pm PST	Finally, Red Hill Records (the Pamplin imprint that Supernova is being released under) has a web site. If you go there, you can also download a nice MP3 file of the cool new album version of "She's Gone Tragic".
6/28/00 12:41pm PST	The results of the GO SUPERNOVA contest have been posted in the Fan Forum! To summarize - everyone who entered (all four of you) won a prerelease copy of Supernova, courtesy of Joey B. and The Echoing Green. For everyone else, don't forget that the new album will be in stores on September 9th, 2000 (9/9/00).
6/16/00 6:23pm PST	"Supernova" is available for download a little early! Go to MP3.com, and check out the low-fi version, and if you want the hi-fi one as well, select "Add to My MP3.com", then go to the My MP3.com link at the top right of the page. Once you're in My MP3.com, select "Artists", then "The Echoing Green" and then "Supernova". Voila! Don't forget to support Joey B. and the band by downloading it a couple of times (and don't worry, you'll want to after you hear it anyway!).
6/01/00 9:47pm PST	Joey is calling on everyone to spread the word about the June 17th release of the amazing new song "Supernova", from the forthcoming album of the same name. Fans are attempting to start a grassroots campaign on sites all over the Web to download the song from MP3.com as soon as it becomes available. If you have a web site and want to support The Echoing Green, use the banner below (created by none other than Joey B. himself!) on your site. 5/20/00 5:48pm PST	Lots of excitement all at once as Joey updates Echocentral, posts an announcement in the Fan Forum and sends out a new Echolalia newsletter! Here's the short version: First off, the title track from the forthcoming album Supernova will be available for download from MP3.com on 6/17/00! Joey wants to make as big a splash as possible with this Internet premiere to get some buzz going, so tell EVERYONE you know to download "Supernova" on June 17! Supernova now has an official release date as well. The album will be in stores everywhere on 9/19/00. Released under Pamplin Records' Red Hill label, this one should be BIG! As previously reported, there will be little to no touring until the Fall (with the exception of the A Different Drum synthpop tour on the East Coast). Look for a massive tour to support the release of Supernova, however. While Supernova is currently the focus of everyone's attention, The Echoing Green are working hard on ADD release Music From The Ocean Picture, an all-synthpop record that Joey and Co. are "currently working on finishing up". There's also a "Supernova" single in the works that will be released through MP3.com and will likely feature the the Deitiphobia remix of the song (see below) in addition to other remixes. Joey is planning on revamping Echocentral in the months ahead - be sure to click the link to get a preview of what's to come! That's all the news for the moment - no word on the proposed contest to win a prerelease copy of Supernova, but keep checking this page and the Forum for more info.
5/15/00 3:08am PST	Echocentral is now back online! Also, it appears the band Deitiphobia has remixed "Supernova", although no details are available at this time as to how it might be released. See the discussion in the Fan Forum for more information.
4/22/00 1:03am PST	Breaking news: Supernova is done! Joey B. just posted on the Fan Forum confirming that all that remains to be done is for the album to be mastered, although Pamplin/Red Hill is holding the record until August. However, YOU will soon have a chance to win your very own pre-release copy of Supernova! Keep check the Forum or this page for the announcement of this super-cool contest.
4/22/00 12:07am PST	The latest update from Todd at A Different Drum makes mention of the American Synthpop Awards. From now until May 31st, you can e-mail your votes for a number of different categories, including Best Synthpop Group and Best Album. Once the nominations close, the top four vote-getters in each category will be posted online for a last round of voting to determine the winner. Whether or not you agree with having a "Christian synthpop" category , let's all band together and put The Echoing Green at the top of the list!
4/18/00 11:12am PST	Right now Echocentral is offline due to issues with the ISP that hosts it. Joey anticipates it should be up again shortly after he returns from Nashville, where he's finishing up Supernova. I'll post an update as soon as it's online again.

4/08/00 5:28pm PST	Joey B. just posted the lyrics for "Supernova", the title track of the forthcoming Pamplin album in the Fan Forum. I haven't decided if the torture of knowing the lyrics without being able to hear the song is worth it yet. Anyway, Joey's in the studio mixing Supernova, and says he'll try to continue to post lyrics to the Forum as the various songs are mixed. I'll be archiving them on my lyrics page as they get released, so if you miss any for some reason, that's where they'll be.
3/31/00 12:42pm PST	To my great distress, there proved to be no way to save a copy of the chat last night, so if you weren't there you missed out. However, there are a few bits of news worth noting: First of all, in response to questions about the redone versions of songs like "Thief" and "Defender", Joey said the new versions would be more "rock" - or was that RAWK? Joey is finishing up Supernova and has not yet started on Music From the Ocean Picture, so that one is still a ways off (as is Supernova, unfortunately, since Pamplin will be holding it until summer). Most importantly, after much badgering (and in response to a question asked by none other than yours truly ), Joey promised to release the legendary Aria and Confessions through MP3.com, similar to Evergreen! These are two important parts of Echoing Green history, featuring some of Joey's earliest work. For more information, see The C.O.D.'s EG discography. I think that's all the important news, but I'll continue to update if I remember anything else - and as always, check the Fan Forum for more info.
3/30/00 9:30am PST	The official Echoing Green chat with Joey Belville (and perhaps others lurking...?) will take place tonight at 7:00pm MST, which makes it 6:00pm PST for those on the West Coast (like me), 8:00pm if you're in Chicago or Texas (you know who you are) and 9:00pm for the East Coast (sheesh, does anyone actually LIVE out there? ). The chat will be held on Echocentral, using a Java-based chat board that is located at: http://www.echocentral.com/chat.html IMPORTANT: As some browsers do not support Java, it is advised that you download the most up-to-date Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator. Also, Andrew B. and his associated web site will NOT be held responsible for missed chat sessions due to people depending on his very possibly flawed time zone information. For your own safety, log on early!!
3/28/00 4:24pm PST	Joey just posted in the Fan Forum announcing an official Echoing Green chat! The tentative date is Thursday, March 30th, sometime during the evening. It appears that Joey will be hosting the chat on Echocentral, which suggests that you won't need to download any special software to participate. More information will be posted here as it becomes available, and keep an eye on the Forum as well.
3/21/00 10:25am PST	More news from Joey in the Fan Forum! The Pamplin/Red Hill Records album formerly known as Eternia is now known as Supernova. This was done because Eternia sounded too close to Hope Springs Eternal, and also because there is a track entitled "Supernova" on the album itself.
3/20/00 1:37pm PST	After a bit of a news drought, some new information appears in the Fan Forum! First of all, according to Joey, the Pamplin/Red Hill Records album Eternia is "almost done" and is apparently so good that it's freaking him out! Also, the Iris single "Lose in Wanting" has been released by A Different Drum, featuring Joey's remix of the title track. And speaking of ADD news, the latest update from Todd has frequent EG contributor System22 (a.k.a. Cody Williams) signed for a full-length album, featuring guest vocals from several ADD bands including The Echoing Green! No word yet as to whether it will be Joey or Chrissy (or both), but definitely one to look for.
2/28/00 12:36pm PST	A MASSIVE update from Joey in the Fan Forum lists way too much cool stuff for me to summarize here....but I'll try anyway: Music From The Ocean Picture (coming Spring 2000) tracklist: She's Gone Tragic Liberation Hope Against Hope Utitled track Forever and a Day Don't Face the World Alone December (remix) Untitled Track 2 Thief (remix) Eternia (Pamplin release, coming Fall 2000) tracklist: Supernova Thief (redone) She's Gone Tragic (redone) Liberation (redone) Waterfall December Yesterday's Taking Over Nightfall & Splendor Defender (redone) Jubilation (This thing called life) If I Could... (redone) Joey explains about the tracklist crossover and the release dates in his post; there's also information about a large tour in Fall 2000 to support the release of Eternia. There aren't any US tour dates planned until then because of schedule pressures and international touring (Norway!). Lots of other good info awaits you, so head over there now! UPDATE: Joey posted a follow-up stating that, unfortunately, the timing of getting the various albums out prevented him from working with Scott Blackwell on Eternia, as had been rumored for some time.
2/27/00 12:29am PST	The oft-delayed-but-worth-the-wait "She's Gone Tragic" single arrived at the homes of a number of fans this week (including mine), and also rose to #3 on the ADD weekly bestseller list! It's worth noting that it's actually the best selling single (the #1 and #2 discs on the chart are full-length albums). Can't wait to see how Music From The Ocean Picture will do!
2/20/00 12:40am PST	Joey just posted in the Fan Forum regarding his remixing of the Iris song "Lose In Wanting". The remix is called the "Pyrotection" mix (it was almost the "Lost My Won Ton" mix ) and is apparently pretty "rock", rather than synthpop-y. More information on the Iris single comes from the weekly update letter from Todd at A Different Drum: Iris "Lose In Wanting" MCD $6 -- This track kicked off the "Disconnect" album very nicely, and now you can get 5 new version of the song, along with a new remix of "The Way I Live My Life". There are remixes by Iris, The Echoing Green, System22, Atomix Sound, and Count to Infinity. It should be here in 2 weeks. You can preorder "Lose In Wanting" from ADD right now. Interestingly enough, System22 and Atomix Sound also did remixes for the "She's Gone Tragic" single, so this might be an fun disc for EG fans to pick up.
2/18/00 10:47am PST	The weekly bestseller list at A Different Drum has the "She's Gone Tragic" single at #7! In other ADD/EG news, the ADD coming soon page lists Music From The Ocean Picture as a March 2000 release now, which jives with Joey's prediction that it will be available "this Spring".
2/17/00 5:16pm PST	"She's Gone Tragic" is now officially available from A Different Drum's web site. If you haven't already preordered it (and why not???), get it now!
2/15/00 5:28pm PST	"She's Gone Tragic" is here!! According to Joey B. himself, posting in the Fan Forum, preordered copies from A Different Drum are shipping now. Finally, the wait is over! 1/29/00 10:28pm PST	Joey just posted a general update in the Fan Forum, with the following info: the "She's Gone Tragic" single is at the factory and should be ready in two weeks, Music From The Ocean Picture is on track for a Spring release for sure, the new Pamplin album Eternia will be coming in July, and Joey's currently remixing "Lose In Wanting" for ADD labelmate Iris. 1/18/00 1:24am PST	The "She's Gone Tragic" single is now available for preorder at A Different Drum. What are you waiting for - click the link already!! UPDATE: Joey posted the complete track list in the Fan Forum. Here it is: 1. She's Gone Tragic (Album version) 2. Noise 3. She's Gone Tragic - Catastrophic Mix (by The Nine) 4. Thief - Wailing Wall Mix (By Atomix Sound) 5. She's Gone Tragic - Tragic Whip Mix (by FatalBlastWhip) 6. Thief - Space-Time Continuum Mix (by System22) 7. She's Gone Tragic - Vitamin DDT Faltering Mix (by DJ Darwin) While most of the tracks have already been mentioned, the System 22 remix is worth noting. System 22 is a recording moniker for Cody Williams, a longtime EG collaborator whom fans may recognize from his excellent tranced-out remix of "Oxygen" on Electronica, the uberdance-y "Defender" remix from the "If I Could..." single, and co-writing credits on the phenomenal original version of "If I Could...". With six other tracks including "Noise" and The Nine's Catastrophic mix, this single is something no EG fan should be without.
1/12/00 3:31pm PST	The first solid news in a long time on the new Pamplin Music EG album has surfaced at Flaming Fish. Here's the scoop: Pamplin Records' new label Rare Earth has two interesting releases in the works: an as-of-yet untitled The Echoing Green (synth-pop) CD and Scott Blackwell's project Static Guard (kinda Fat Boy Slimmish with sampled vocals). The Scott Blackwell news is particularly interesting since several reports had indicated Blackwell would be producing the Pamplin Echoing Green album. As always, more info as it becomes available. UPDATE: Joey posted in the Fan Forum, confirming that Rare Earth is indeed the planned label for the new album (it's an "imprint" rather than a separate label, apparently). He also said the the proposed new album will be called Eternia. Hit the Forum and check it out!
1/8/00 12:39pm PST	Here's an interesting snippet from the latest update e-mail from Todd Durrant at A Different Drum: The Echoing Green "She's Gone Tragic" MCD -- This newest single by one of America's strongest synthpop bands of the last decade is getting ready to be released at the end of the month. It is some of the strongest material they've put together in their career so far, featuring super strong synthpop songs that have instant hit potential, plus a harder-edged track that covers Moev's classic "Noise". Just wait and see... So it looks like the single will be released at the end of January. A Different Drum is not yet accepting pre-orders, but I'll post an update as soon as they become available.
