  About Me Hello Everyone! As you can guess by my site title, my name is Terri, and I became a Duran Duran fan in 1984. My friends asked me who my favorite group was, and I didn't have any. They told me some groups who were popular, and mentioned some group called Duran Duran. DURAN DURAN?? My ears perk up immediately for some reason! Hmmm! Who was that? It wasn't long after that I heard this really beautiful song on the radio. It was SAVE A PRAYER. And I was in love with a voice. The funny part was that it was about the same time when my sister Denise discovered Nick Rhodes. About a week later, I saw the video, and then Simon LeBon!!! And then I knew for sure that my life would never be the same. Hearing him...was my life beginning. I was transformed almost immediately, and couldn't see what my life was before Simon entered into it. He definitely made life worth living for me. I remember that Denise and I found a few really neat radio stations that played Duran Duran. One was of course KROQ, and the other was KIQQ. KIQQ did a countdown every night(it was past our bedtime so we had to try and listen quietly in the dark), and this was where we were introduced to all the b-sides, because FASTER THAN LIGHT was almost always Number 1. I used to try and tell people that meeting Simon was my ultimate dream, and that one day, it would happen no matter what! But for some reason, people used to hope that I would give up my dream. They used to say, "Why hope for the impossible? It's never going to happen. He's a rock star." But, I don't think they really understood what Simon really was to me....I decided then and there that I somehow HAD to make this happen. I wrote many times to Simon through the Duran Duran fan club, telling him how great I thought he was, and how much I adored him. I also pointed out that I would make a great pen pal in case he was ever bored on tour or something and needed to do something. I begged him to write me back, or I'd be crushed for life. I must have been rather insistant (and I also wrote several times) because finally, I got a RESPONSE, not from Simon himself, but from someone who worked there. I was crushed, but really exited that I had actually gotten through to someone. I joined the fan club too after that. It was great, until they decided to close it. That was horrible! The years went by, and still I waited to meet Simon. I got the chance to go to several concerts, and after each one, I became more determined than ever to make my dreams come true. Finally, after MANY years, my ultimate dream DID came true, and it was something that I will never forget. I was lucky not even once, but several different times! And Simon was amazing in person...being next to him was an extreme moment for me! It seemed...I guess surreal in a sense, because I was right there in his very sight, even after everyone had told me it would never happen. And not only did I meet him, but one of the times I did, I got to give him a GIFT. It was something that I didn't really even explain in why I was giving it to him, but he seemed to like anyway. And through this UP CLOSE tour, I was able to give him another one too! WOW! Every time I'm blessed with the opportunity of meeting him, I can't seem to believe how lucky I am. Through near impossible odds, my dreams come true. I've been able to be close to Simon several times now, and each time seems like a true miracle. And I finally got my hugs from him too! It was the most amazing experience I've ever known. Next time, I'm determined it will be a kiss on the cheek lol! I know now that I'll always think that Simon is FABULOUS...his voice is beyond anything I ever heard, and he has been such an influence on my life. Duran always make things seem somehow easier, do you know what I mean? Just when you think its hopeless for something, there they are...and it happens. They are just MAGICAL I guess. I almost gave up several times, but each of those times made me realize that I really couldn't live without them. I am extremely greatful for Duran Duran...and especially for Simon LeBon. They are sooo amazingly talented... and so is Simon...but we already knew that didn't we? If you really don't believe me, then you should take a listen to EVERYTHING they've done....especially POP TRASH because that CD is really and truely AWESOME. Personally I think its their BEST work to date!
