The Adventures of Wulf, Bear and Cockroach
The Tamed Down Version The Original Script Warning: 'The Original' version is how I wrote it in the first place, however there is some swearing, and other things more unappropriate for very young children. I took out some of the more brutal swearing for the tamed down version- there are still some damns and hells, however. Its at your own discretion which you choose to read. Advise on How I Would Cast, etc: This 'play' did not decide weither it was going to be a movie, or a stage production. It would have to be reformatted slightly to fit either of those- so it is as it is right now. However, I have a few ideas about the sets for the stage, and some ideas of casting in general......
Introduction I had tried to write several screenplays before I ever actually read one- and had failed miserably both times. Before I read one, I believed that a script consisted of dialogue and the static movement of the characters- but after reading my first one, I found out that there was little difference between a book and a play. The only one I could see being instead of putting quotations around what people said, you put brackets around everything else. And so, with this knowledge, I prepared myself for this attempt. I still didn’t feel it was exactly in the spirit to write the thing as if a book, and so it is a little dry bone, however I tried to give more insights into what the characters were thinking, or at what stage they were in their relationship with others as it goes on. Perhaps, with this added bit of flavour, my inspiration will not run out so quickly as the others. I would also like to talk a little bit about the dynamics of the threesome of Wulf, Bear and Cockroach- but I think I will wait until the end of writing it. However, I’m like to mention there simple roles right off the bat. First of all- which one is the leader? I’m afraid it might seem muddy to some of the public how managed to think Raphael was from the ninja turtles instead of Leonardo- but if you apply some rational thought to the matter, it should be plain. Cockroach, could never have been a leader even if he tried his hardest, so he’s out. Bear could have quite capably been the leader, but since Wulf cannot be anything but a leader, he is quite content to be on the side. Yes, Wulf is definitely the leader. Bear is the fighter of the group, he is the voice of reason, in most cases. Cockroach is the intellect. He comes up with most of the plans, and brings warmth to the group. He also doesn’t mind girls, but that’s another matter. Written by Stephanie Piercy. |
