Celestial Molestation is the latest brainchild of Jonathan and Gwendolyn Black.
To a small circle of friends in Bakersfield, California, they may be remembered as the
drummer and singer for previous projects, "Blue Blanket Room" and "Butterfly Stitches".
To Hollywood, (where they now reside,) and the rest of the world, they're NOBODY.
The music is electronic of varying styles.  Sounds are twisted, manipulated and
combined with the help of two favorite tools: A Roland Virtual Drum Set and a
Novation Supernova sound module.  The sounds are then crammed into a computer
and synced up with a recording program called Cubase.
Vocals are fickle things.  Sometimes they need to be sung.  Sometimes they
need to be spoken.  Or cried.  Or barked.  Or screamed.  And sometimes, Gwen says,
they need more testosterone than she has to offer..."I'm never going to be Jon Davis
or Maynard James Keenen- and I'm just going to have to accept that.  So, I recruited
Jonathan- who wouldn't so much as BREATHE into a microphone a year ago...but I
think Hollywood has cured him of that."  Jonathan, being new to the world of
vocalizing, offered a unique sing-speak quality to Celestial Molestation's first release,
"The Blonde".  As for Gwen, a life-long "user" of the craft, she still complains that she
is forever cursed to sound like a "choir-girl-turned-bitter".  Nonetheless, it is fair
to say that both Jon and Gwen are uneasy about vocal offerings.  Consider them
"introverts on display".
Gwen doesn't consider herself much of a musician, she considers herself a
writer- since writing is her first passion.  So the lyrics are always there, waiting to
choose which music to come out through.  Jonathan doesn't consider himself much
of writer, though he dabbles with the pen from time to time.  It has been said that
the words spouted out by these two are sometimes "haunting".  There's a very
Stephen King-like blood pumping through Celestial Molestation's verbal veins.  Only,
Jonathan writes from the author's point of view, and Gwen writes from the
character's.
Topics are dreary.  Rape.  Abuse.  Hate.  Death.  Suicide.  And fear.  And
let us not forget the obvious...
CELESTIAL MOLESTATION.  The idea for the name came about when a
friend of the band (whom we'll refer to as the "tall doll") read the lyrics to a song
Gwen was struggling to title.  He pointed out the line, "Just send your mind away-
but leave your body here," and deemed the song "Celestial Molestation".  Beyond that,
make of it what you will.
