What's
Happening? Here's the latest, plus the new additions to
the website.
August 24 2000
WoW!
My
apologies for the long long absence...
but
we're back. Feb 11 1998 was the last update...I'm going
to try and get this thing happening again. And that means...the
cool giveaways of 97/98 will return...
What's
Vernon been up to?
*
funkyjungledubbreakbeatdrama...with a
twist...
Veron has just started a project with DJ Logic
called The Yohimbe Brothers.
* Miles to
Go
He's producing a track, Miles to Go, on DJ
Logic's as yet untitled album, with Graham Haynes on
cornet.
*
What ever happened to...Masque?
It's now a core quartet:
-> Marlon Browden on Drums.
-> Hank Schroy on Bass.
-> Leon Gruenbaum on keyboard and (of course) the
Samchillian.
DJ Logic
and Beans from anti-pop consortium are part of the
extended Masque crew.
*
And those shows in Argentina?
Masque just finished a weekend of shows in B.A....and
loved it. According to Vernon, Argentina boasts some of
the best crowds for Masque-esque music...they
also loved sharing the stage with D.D. Jackson's group,
and Brian Jackson's Fellowship.
*
Back in NYC...
Cindy Blackman, Lenny Kravitz's lady-upon-the-throne,
and Vernon have been working...Vernon guested at Cindy's
show at The Jazz Standard...
*
Sly Stone
Vernon was part of the Black
Rock Coalition's tribute to Sly Stone.
*
Wasssuppp!
He's composing a soundtrack to Charles Stone's (Wasssuppp!
Budweiser commercials, Funny Vibe, plus other LC
favourites) debut film.
* And
finally...had a nice lunch with...Will Calhoun.

But
Wait, where's the ALBUM!?
Can't

February

Hi All,
Vernon
will be touring some of the West Coast soon...don't know
too much detail, but I'll put it up as it comes to hand.
For now:
Santa
Cruz, California at Palookaville
25 February at 8pm; tickets at bass.
San
Francisco
with Trey Gunn, Percy Howard and Charles Hayward at the
Maritime Hall
26 February.
If anyone
finds more dates, mail me or post it to the guestbook.
Also, I'm
working hard on another site at the moment, so this
site's had to unfortunately suffer. The good news,
however, is that this site will soon move to a quicker
server with an easy address (no, it won't be not
vernonreid.com) - stay tuned in the next month or so.
Peace!

Vernon,
Will and Doug played at The Bottom Line, NYC...the show
was apparently awesome. Hope to have more info soon.
Anyone with an article, write in!
Appologies
that I haven't been updating the site as often as I would
have liked. Sam and I have been hitting our Corey site
pretty hard...so hard it's become THE
Corey Site. It went official not long ago.
Plus, my attention has been diverted to another related
surprise website, which should be up reasonably soon.

Quote:
"Anything
that smacks of freedom is seen as dangerous. That's why
they want to destroy the Internet, that's why they want
to be able to go in and look at your bookmarks so they
can see what you've been pointing and clicking on.
Anything that deals with freedom of spirit is very
disturbing because freedom breeds anarchy in the minds of
those who are trying to hold on to power."
