I was listening to Innocent Victim and heard the song Choices, "Well we all have our choices". I then proceeded to Dave White's wonderful site and read two interesting things. I first read the Ken Hensley interview and then the David Byron news bulletin. I started thinking (dangerous territory) of how two musicians whose lives were so intertwined. They were both on the "Highway to Hell", "Life in the Fast Lane", "The Easy Road". They were into "Easy Living" living "Free and Easy". In the Bible, it says that broad is the path that leads to destruction, the path to life is very straight and narrow. "It's So Easy" to take the broad path, a run away train after while. It is sad that David chose death, the lifestyle, the indulgences, they both led to his early demise.
Ken on the other hand, finally found the exit off the road to nevermore. In the interview he admits denial of problems and yet finally he came to grip with them and made the lifestyle adjustments. If only David had done that! Ken seems to be really at peace with himself and that is good.
Thus we have the "Tales" of 2 musicians, one chose death, one chose life. The 2 diametrically opposed viewpoints that are a microcosm of society in general. If these stories can help someone avoid self destruction, than the death of David was not in vain. We hope as well that the life of Ken will bear fruit and leave a much more favorable impression. I think it can best be summed up as a how to, and a how to not, approach to life.
I too have been touched by all the recent discussion about David, and yet I am encouraged that we still have Ken. Maybe the death of the one, may have helped the life of the other.
Well it is time to stop thinking and time to go to bed. Take care and we will tune in another night to Heepsters @nconline.com.
Well we all have our choices..........
