to Everything Mazzy. I want to compile a
list of every Mazzy Star music video and TV appearance,
in both the US and abroad. Below is what I have, thus
far. If you have any information or videotapes, please
E-Mail me. I do not have most of this material on tape
and I need to see 'em to write about them. So if you have
any of these, especially if it's a high quality
recording, please contact. I can handle any
format-- VHS, S-VHS, Hi8, Betacam, D-2, PAL, etc.
Thanks. --

Halah Director: Kevin Kerslake 1990-91? Hope strolls through a garden and peers through a metal gate. The band jams in an empty house. A neonish hand-tinted effect (actually achieved in post through the use of a DaVinci color correction unit, is my guess) |
|
Fade
Into You (version
#1) Black & White. The band plays in a room with a staircase. I was told there might be a fence involved. Fade
Into You (version
#2) A great video for a great song. (Kevin Kerslake: my compliments.) Film in the desert, it seems, and you can't go wrong. Moody and atmospheric, and yet shot in the full light of day. Hope looks cute standing out in the desert in her oversize sunglasses. David and Hope tool around in an old Renault/Citreon (help me out here--I'm sure it's one of those French nightmares.) Lotsa slo-mo. In full Super 8 Kodachrome glory. This is the version you've seen. This version sold a lot of CD's. |
|
She's My Baby Director: ?? 1995 No see. I'd like to get a copy of this one. |
|
Sometimes Always (Jesus &
Mary Chain) Director: Sophie Muller Hope is a "special guest star" in this JAMC duet. The boys hang out at the bar and drink while they think about talking to women. |
|
Flowers in December Director: Kevin Kerslake December 1996 Hope arrives to a flatly lighted, blue-tinged, studio set in a Victorian horse-drawn carriage. David hangs on a park bench. Other band members may be glimpsed through the foggy murk. Hope ponders an ornate gate. (Wrought iron appears to play a large role in the Mazzy Star motif.) The director blows the budget on a spinning hallway. |
|
I've Been Let Down Director: Michael Costanza Premiere: March 23, 1997 Hope wanders through an old European cemetery. She and Dave walk the cobblestone streets, forlorn. She's been let down. He's not happy, either. She frolics (in her own way) with a peacock. Interspersed with amusement park shots and simulated concert footage. With pseudo-Super 8 look and fisheye effects. (Help me identify the Eurocity) |
