Back in the 70's, all 4 members grew up and graduated from Ohmaha High Schools. Nick, Tim , and Chad made up the original group, along with keyboardist Chad Bones. They called themselves "Unity" - later an album name as well as song name. Instead of following that project, P-Nut hooked up with Chad, and old guitarist Jim Watson, while Tim was momentarily left out of the picture. Their first gig was opening for FUGAZI in '90, still without Tim. Eventually, Tim joined as lead guitarist, and SA later joined in '92, after they all moved to L.A. Slowly, they began to gain a strong fan base, after releasing "Music" and "Grassroots" (both are KICK ASS albums). They made a couple videos, and released singles as well. Finally, in '96 their big brake came, as "Down", the first single off the blue album began playing on MTV. Afterwards, they released "All Mixed Up" to MTV, and toured even more (if you haven't seen them live, you're missin out). By now, they had a large, very devoted fan base, and they were ready to release a new album - Transistor. Singles "Transistor", "Prisoner", and "Beautiful Disaster" have all been released, and they are all great songs (just like every other 311 song). They are now getting ready to release the "Ohmaha Sessions" to the public, and possibly a live album in the future too. |
