The title of the new album will be called Conspiracy Of One. Beginning September 29, The offspring's new single "Original Prankster" will available for download in mp3 format at the official site. Soon after, the entire album can be downloaded from the same site. And just in case that's not enough for you, everyone who downloads songs from the album will be eligible to win $1,000,000 straight the pockets of the band, not from sponsors or other sources. The new album will be a CD-extra, and will come with a "key" that will register those who actually buy the CD into a digital Offspring fan club, called "The Offspring Nation." The fan club offers many benefits, listed on the official site. To read the whole story, which I suggest you do, go to www.offspring.com and click on "BIG NEWS." The Offspring will soon be touring with Cypress Hill for the upcoming album (I cannot guarantee the 100% validity of this statement; however, there has been some information released from a reliable source to make this news a probability). I have a title for the new album! Sorry folks, it's actually only a working title, called Platejob. A working title is the name by which the band refers to the album before they've actually thought of a title. So the title to The Offspring's sixth album still remains a mystery. Also, I added a couple more rumored songs to my list, which you can view below on this page (it's in the section that starts out "New album news!). Chris x-13 Higgins has been pronounced "official 5th member" of The Offspring. His role in the band has been defined as "Stage Manager and other misc" although he is no longer their stage manager (James McKinney is the stage manager now), so I guess he's really just "miscellaneous." Higgins has been working with the band for quite a while, most notably since the making of Americana, although he is "thanked" in the Ixnay on the Hombre CD booklet. He co-wrote many lyrics for the new album and sang backup on Americana while playing some instruments during shows. Higgins can be seen in the "Why Don't You Get a Job?" video as the slob on the couch. New album news! The official release date for the album is November 14 in the US and November 13 in the UK. The album will be released a week later for the rest of Europe. Four songs on The Offspring's upcoming album will be called "Come Out Swinging," "Original Prankster" (Come Out Swinging or Original Prankster will be the first single off of the album, which is due out on Oct. 10), "Want You Bad," and "Million Miles Away." It is also rumored that one song on the new album will be a duet with Davey Havok of AFI, and the album may also contain an AC/DC cover or guitar riff from the classic rock band. Some rumored song titles are: Watch The Offspring in the studio working on their sixth full-length album. Go to www.columbiarecords.com. The Offspring's new album is rumored to have a release date of November 14, 2000. The band is hoping to begin recording songs on July 6. Apparently, they have already written 11 songs for the new album. In May of 2000, The Offspring began selling trademarked Napster merchandise on their official site, www.offspring.com, without the company's consent. On Friday, June 2 Napster responded by filing a cease and desist court order, which commanded the band to discontinue their actions. A few days later, both Napster and The Offspring decided to team up selling the merchandise, with profits going to a charity chosen by Dexter Holland and Shawn Fanning, Napster founder. The Offspring are back in studio working on their sixth album. The album is expected to be released at the end of the year 2000. Holland claims that he wants to do something new with the album and hopes it will "rock" more than Americana, released in 1998. The Offspring are expressing their support for Napster, the internet music-swapping software company. The music video for "She's Got Issues" premiered on MTV in October of 1999. It was a "Making the Video" episode. The video is a combination of animation and live action. The music videos for "The Kids Aren't Alright," "Why Don't You Get a Job?" and "Pretty Fy (For a White Guy)" are also out. Many parents and church-goers were attempting to ban The Offspring and Silverchair from playing in Atlanta at the Hard Rock Festival. They used "Beheaded" as an example of the violent messages the band sends. It's nice to know it takes these people 10 years to discover a song that was written as a joke. Maybe they should actually try talking to their children rather than blaming the music which in reality offers the kids a sanctuary in which they can for once just forget their troubles and try to relax. Idle Hands is out on video. Go rent it if you want to see The
Offspring play "Beheaded" and "I Wanna Be Sedated" (originally by The
Ramones).
