Want List and Preferences

Bad Trader Alert: Mike Wainstock (goleafs@interlog.com and wainy19@hotmail.com) has openly admitted to ripping me off. I got an e-mail from him with an apology, but until I receive an envelope in the mail I'll still caution anyone who visits my little page not to trade with him.

Good traders list

My want list:
*R.E.M.: Basically, anything, especially 1980s shows. Also, 2001-2005 shows.
*Tragically Hip: Got any HQ older shows that aren't on my list? Also, I want Vancouver 95-02-25 (my first Hip show). Plus 2000-2005 shows.
*Kristin Hersh or Throwing Muses: Anything!
*Radiohead: 2000/01 shows. And one old one: Munich, Nov. 1 1997.
*Anything interesting from Belle and Sebastian, The Smiths, Stacey Earle, Bocephus King, Guster, Uncle Tupelo, Wilco, Seattle Bumbershoot '99 or '00

Preferences (if you have an issue with any of these, let me know and we can probably work it out)

  1. For CDRs, use "disc at once" to avoid gaps between tracks. Even very tiny gaps are annoying.
  2. For tapes, I use new Maxell XLII tapes. I'm OK with receiving new type II tapes of pretty much any brand.
  3. In an even trade, I prefer sending without cases and j-cards. Please use a rubber band to secure the spokes of each tape so that they don't unravel in transit!!
  4. Please don't use high-speed dubbing or Dolby. Actually, I don't really care, but all the audiophiles have this rule so it must be a good one...
  5. Please don't cut off songs or "wrap" them between Sides A and B. If your copy is already like that, please let me know.
  6. I will usually mail the tapes within a week of finalizing the trade, but will sometimes take longer. I realize that you, like me, might have a lot on your plate besides trading, so if you want to work in a different time frame, just let me know. The only thing I expect is that you'll e-mail me when you do send the tapes out. Likewise, an e-mail when you've received my tapes would be nice, because a trade isn't completed until both people are happy. Also, if you wait until you receive my package before you send yours, I will take it as a personal insult. ;-) No, seriously, I will.
Newbies: If you don't have anything to trade that I want, I will still trade for blanks, and ask for no profit, but you have to do all the work. That means putting your blank tapes inside a pre-stamped, pre-addressed envelope, and sending all that to me inside another envelope. You also have to ask me nicely, of course. If you live outside of Canada, and can't get your hands on any Canadian stamps for me to use for return postage, I will have to ask for a standard 2:1 trade for your blanks. In no case will I sell anything. Don't even bother asking.

CD-Rs: I'll take 'em, but I can't make 'em. If you're curious, here's what I have on CD-R.

Videos: I will trade my videos 1:1 for yours, or 1 video:2 audio tapes, or 1 video:2 CD-Rs. Unfortunately, Canada Post's high postage rates prevent me from trading for blank videos.

Legend:

Sources: AUD=audience recording (w/either analog or DAT master), FM=FM radio recording, TV=TV show, SBD=soundboard recording, CD=I have the CD, STU=studio tracks, NET=internet broadcast

Quality: generally, anything in the A-range is good, anything in the B-range is not so good, and anything in the C-range is crap. If you want specifics, here goes: A+ means perfect, comparable to legitimately released live albums. A means not quite perfect, but generally crystal clear, with maybe a little hiss or a small flaw or two. A- is subpar, but still very listenable and clear. B+ could contain some serious flaws and/or noise and/or hiss, any or all of which will start to take away from the enjoyment of the tape. B means the band sounds distant, and though with higher qualities the sound can be improved by an equalizer, you'd be hard pressed to fix this one. B- is the lowest listenable grade. A letter in brackets indicates that the sound quality is inconsistent; the grade given is either an average grade or the grade for the majority of the tape. A grade with a question mark means that it has been supplied by the person who gave me the tape, and I haven't re-evaluated it yet. All letter grades represent nothing but my own opinion, and if you disagree with any of them, well, nuts to you.

Time: almost always rounded up a little, to be on the safe side, and includes any filler which is listed.
