12/04/01: Up and Running
For
those of you who have chosen to visit the CATWF
website, thank you! Things are off to a fantastic start and matches should
start within the next week. The Guestbook is now up to a whoppin' 8
signatures. Not too shabby if you ask me. Thanks guys. Images
are on the way... I'll have the digital camera up and running soon and
you'll finally get to see some pictures here! How exciting is that?!
It has come to my attention as of late, that perhaps there
aren't really that many of you coming to this site. I mean look at the
Christastic! Web Poll above, only 8 total votes. That also equals the
number of guestbook signings. Is that all of you? You have to be
kidding me right?! What are 8 of you doing wasting your time coming here?
Perhaps you should get a cat scan or something for Christmas, because your brain
just isn't working right. Do I have to have some sort of Christastic!
give-away to get people to come here? Do I have to stoop that
low? Should I start drawing little animals in record time and put them on
my site? Or are funny quotes from teachers what you crave? Perhaps
pictures of all my college buddies in their dorm rooms, hanging out and having a
good ol' time would do the trick. Oh wait! I go to Foothill...
Should I sell Chris Gear on the internet and hope that more than just one person
actually buys some? (that was me in that case, lame, I know) Some
say that I should just start complaining about how my life sucks and my parents
hate me, and I hate them. Or I could just give shoutouts to all my so
called friends. There are endless possibilities.
Note: The last
paragraph was not intended to offend anyone whose website actually contains any
of that information.
Since it's been a long time since I last updated this page, I figure that
I should let you know what's happening. Well, we're in the finals push
now, and that means that all the last papers and projects of the year are coming
in. Extra work for all of us students is in a high abundance this time of
year. Finals start for Foothill next Tuesday, and last through Friday.
But look what we have after that! 3 whole weeks of endless pleasure known
as vacation. Yup! We don't go back until January 7th, the latest
return date ever in my schooling career. It's going to be soooooooo nice!
I don't know if you guys realize this or not, but the day of
19 is fast approaching. As Monday lurks closer and closer, I continue to
realize how I really don't know what I want for my birthday OR for Christmas.
Expensive stuff is preferred though :) I could use a nice X-Box or PS2
though, if anyone has any extras laying around. I played the X-Box game at
Taco Bell yesterday 3 times, and I actually won something! I am the lucky
winner of a free nacho supreme! Wohoo! So with this luck I figured I
should go for an even bigger prize, like 1 million dollars cash! So off to
Longs we went. We got some change from the lady at the photo desk and
headed straight for the scratchers. Being over 18 (almost 19) has its
perks you know, not only can I gamble my recent paycheck away on a tiny card,
but I can also help keep our nation's economy rolling by doing so. Of
course all I got out of it was one free ticket, after spending 10 dollars, so
perhaps my luck wasn't as great as I figured. Ah.... story of my
life :(
For today's Marching Band rambling, I would like to point out
the stupidity of the Tree Lighting Ceremony in Downtown Mountain View. In
my experience with the MVHS Marching Band, I've only actually participated in
this event twice. My Sophomore year in High School, and my first year in
Marching Band, the event was cancelled on account of rain. This year, it
was once again cancelled due to rain. Now how stupid is this!? Does
Santa Claus cancel Christmas because of a slightly higher than 0 precipitation
rate? Heck no! First of all, it wasn't evening raining, and second,
the city of Mountain View is a bunch of whimps! If you're going to have a
gathering for something as big as Christmas, you have to do it in style. I
simple gang of people standing on the steps in front of the good ol' CPA is by
no standards a proper ceremony for such an event. Los Altos has got
it right as far as I'm concerned. A huge parade that includes all sorts of
local institutions as well as youth groups and such is definitely the way to go
for the holidays. After all, "anything less would be uncivilized!"
Now at the Tree Lighting Ceremony the Marching Band walks in, plays a tune, then
walks out. I say "walks" because no one really cares enough to actually
march anymore. Furthermore, this thing is always scheduled on the same
night as the San Jose Holiday Parade in Downtown San Jose. Two years ago,
I marched in the parade with the Santa Clara Vanguard and then had to make a mad
dash back to MV, in my Vanguard uniform, in order to be on time for a 5 minute
performance. Logical? I think not! Yet another reason Marching
Band is stupid. I HATE MARCHING BAND!
