1/3/02: Christastic! Videos! = Christastic! Fun!
Well it lasted until a good 5:00am in the morning today, unbeknownst to Mark
Nielson. That's right, when Jon Baer and I finally left the Nielson
residence from the 3rd ever Video Spectacularrrrrrr, Mark Nielson was fast
asleep on his couch through all through 48 Hours. With a great crew of
viewers, the event took on the Eddie Murphy theme, having rented 8 Eddie Murphy
videos of which we would ultimately only watch 7 of. The late hour and
lack of sleep got the best of us. Also, several dinner and food breaks add
a good 4 hours on to the viewing time, running from about 1pm-5am, a good 16
hours. This super marathon, deemed insane by the less than hardcore
viewers who promptly left at midnight, was perhaps the biggest success amongst
the three events to date. Thought the non-participation by anyone over the
age of 16, other than myself, was a bit disturbing, the presence of cute girls,
no matter how young, made it a fun night. Of course, 2 or the 3 of them
were taken by Jon Baer and Hank Freedland, but you can't it all I suppose.
Good work guys. Adding to the lack of single women (young girls), was the
absence of Caylan, who never did actually show up. Hope things turned out
alright Caylan. Dan Means, the not so Christastic! owner of Just Plain Dan
(which receives no link here due to a recent grievance), also failed to show
with no warning, promising that he would in-fact show up for part of it.
Next anyone heard from him, he was already in Santa Cruz without even saying
goodbye... :( not cool. Dan Tacci, in all his rebelness and
party-hardy ways, decided that he had been to one too many movie marathons
recently, and that since he hates Eddie Murphy, would not make an appearance as
previously hoped. That's alright Dan, we understand. There was
another King Kong sighting Wednesday night as well, full of pepperoni as usual.
The crew and Peaches downed the large pizza with no trouble. Bad Rice
Krispy Treats and a bunch of stale chips also added to the fun, making a late
night food run imminent. In and Out Burger was the final choice for
sustenance, seeing as how Taco Bell was closed and Jack In the Box is just
disgusting. All in all, the video marathon covered 7 great Eddie Murphy
rentals, including, in this order, SNL: The Best of Eddie Murphy, Bowfinger,
Beverly Hill Cop1, 2, and of course, 3, Coming to America, and 48 hours.
We whimped out on Another 48 hours at the end, but do not feel ashamed for doing
so. Missing in action tonight were Trading Places and Boomerang, which
were unavailable at both Blockbusters. I hope you all join us again for
our next spectacularrrrrr over spring break.
In X-box news, I am currently working a deal with the Means
family that will allow me to borrow their copy of Halo, since I still have yet
to play it. Co-owner of the X-box, Mitch Levy, got his first X-box gamin
experience in Tuesday night, as we played a bunch of Tony Hawk 2x. I am
also planning on purchasing the DVD Playback Kit and High Definition A/V
Adapters. Look for NHL 2k2 to be on my shelf as well.
If you are a female and are looking for recognition on my
site, here's how to get some. First of all, you must email me at
Snare17@pacbell.net, with a sweet
letter professing your un-dieing love and admiration, and perhaps a rhyme or
two. Of course, to be politically correct, guys can do this too, I guess.
Second, it's got to be good. I am interested to see how many fun and
interesting entries I'll get. So get cracking!
