10/30/01: Trick or Treat! It's been a good 4 years or so since the last time I went trick-or-treating.
I miss all the junky candy too. In many respects, it was the greatest
holiday ever, because you could get away with dressing up like a weirdo and
walking the streets at night with a small group of friends ringing door bells
and taking candy. Sounds like a good night out to me. But these
days, things are a lot different. Since I am a member of the working class
now, and I have a steady job the pays me lots of money, if I ever want candy,
I'll just go buy it. There's no more incentive to dress all silly and take
candy from strangers. A good 20 spot can buy you at least a pillow case
full of candy, and you can get the good stuff too, not the crappy stuff that
they always give you on Halloween. I was always in it for the snickers and
such. You know. The REAL candy. And who ever thought up
the idea of the "fun size" candy bar? Let me tell you, there is absolutely
nothing fun about a candy bar that's one third the size of a real one.
What sort of trickery is this?! It's all one big scandal is what it is.
While everyone is out lurking the dark streets at night, the government must be
up to something. Do you think they'd let an opportunity such as this to
really start spying on us slip by? I certainly don't. So this is
just a good little Halloween reminder to everyone. Lock your doors people!
Because the trick is on!
