Formed in Liverpool in 1962 and including ex-Remo Four drummer Prytherch, Group One played a more melodic type of music than most of their contemporaries. They played the usual round of Liverpool clubs and in October 1963, appeared in a BBC television documentary "The Mersey Sound" alongside The Beatles and The Undertakers. Brian Epstein wanted to sign them to his ever-expanding roster, but, not wishing to turn professional, they turned him down. Group One split up in May 1964 without making any records. Dave Williams became a founding member of The Four Originals and Brian Hilton joined another new group, The Hillsiders.
