Chapter one

"Thank you New York. You've been a great audience. We love you. Good night." The group oldest member said to the yelling crowd.

"See you soon!!" Brian looked around for his band mates. Holding hands with them, they bowed one last time, then disappeared into the hallway that let them to the dressing rooms.

"That was a great show!" expressed AJ as he closed the door behind him.

Howie walked over the table placed in the room and picked up a water bottle. After taking a sip, he picked up a towel and placed it around his neck. "We rocked!"

"I'm dead!" Kevin dropped himself in the couch, laying down on it. Crossing his arms on top of his head, hiding his eyes under them, he took a deep breath.

"That's because you're old! Accept it Kevin, you're about to turn thirty." AJ walked over the dark haired man and slapped him in the arm playfully.

Kevin's only response was a slight smile, not even bothering to look at his friend.

"What are our plans for tonight?" asked Howie as he walked over to a chair and sat down. He was very tired after the concert, but was definitely into having some fun before leaving the Big Apple.

"Clubbing!" AJ started to bounce up and down, clapping like a mad man.

"God AJ! Aren't you tired?" wondered the younger Kentucky cousin.

"Of course I am! But you can't leave NY without going clubbing!" Picking up a tank top from his gym bag, he started taking off the T-shirt he was wearing. He felt a lot more comfortable when he was in his clothes.

"Ok. I'm in. Who else is coming?" Howie looked around waiting for an answer.

"I'm going."

The wild young man walked over the food table and picked up some fruit. He'd much rather have something more greasy, like a Big Mac, but Kevin would never let him order that after a concert. "I thought you were tired B."

Brian stretched himself up, trying to reach for the ceiling. "I'm a little bit tired, but not too much as not to go clubbing." He turned around and looked at his crazy friend, smiling at him.

The young blond sat quietly in the couch, right in front of Kevin. He had a bottle of Gatorade in one hand, he had only had a sip or two before it had been long forgotten. His eyes never leaving the peaceful form of his older friend. The way his chest rose up and down because of his steady breathing. How one of his hands had made it's way from his face to his plain and well defined stomach, staying there for a while now. His piercing green eyes were close, not sure if it was because he had already fallen asleep, or just because of the tiredness of the concert.

"Nick, you coming?"

The twenty five year old man realized that his best friend was too drown into his mussing to have heard the earlier question. Nudging his friend slightly, he hoped to bring him back from his reverie.

Nick felt something hit him in the side, turning around he found himself looking at a very similar pair of blue eyes. "What?"

"AJ asked you'd go clubbing." Brian whispered, hoping he'd get the hint and pretend like he had actually heard the question.

"Yeah. I think so." Nick looked over at AJ, who nodded in answered, and then smile at his friend in a thankful manner. He knew he would get caught one of this days if he wasn't more careful.

"Train, you?" AJ asked, his eyes never leaving his gym bag, as he continued looking for his favorite pair of shades, even though he had about ten 'favorite' pair of shades.

A moment later the younger man realized that he hadn't been answered. Lifting his gaze from the bag, he looked over at the eldest member. He hadn't move from his position in the couch. His hand had made it's way down his chest into his stomach and his feet were leaning on the arm or the couch, the piece of furniture being to small for his large figure.

AJ looked over at his older friend and questioned with his eyes. Howie understood the silent question and only shrugged. "Maybe he's asleep." Said softly the curly haired man.

The twenty one year old made his way over the couch, kneeling in front of his friend. "Kev?" his voice soft enough only to be heard by his obvious sleeping friend.

"He's out Bone. Let him be." Stated the younger Kentucky cousin. If anything he was sure about it. Probably not in deep sleep, but enough that even if he woke up, he wasn't gonna go with them.

Turning around to look at the blue eyed man, he smiled at him. "Then we better wake him up." His eyes were sparkling with mischief.

"Oh no! If you wake him with a startle he'd be pissed off at all of us!" complained Nick. He knew that Kevin cherished his sleep very much. The last thing he wanted was for him to be mad at him for something he had nothing to do with it.

AJ glared at him. "You sure know how to spoil the fun!"

Nick just smiled at him and stood up. Making his way slowly over the sleeping figure of his older friend, he looked at AJ who just shrugged and stood up. Nick kneeled were AJ had been and admire the green eyed man's features. His narrow lips, closed in a perfect line. So inviting and tempting he had to control himself not to kiss him right there and then. His furry eyebrows, even thought the guys teased him about it, Nick just loved them. They could express so much with just a slight movement. His closed sapphire green eyes. So deep and calm it was like looking at the Australian sea.

"Kev?" he whispered.

As he got nothing of response, he moved his mouth closer to his ear. He knew that if he just moved half an inch, his lips would be touching his earlobe. "Kevin?"

"Huh?" his voice husky from the sleep, not really knowing if he was being talked to.

"Kev. Wake up." Nick's own voice was soft, tender.

Slowly Kevin's eyelashes started to part, revealing to Nick his striking sea green eyes to his soft baby blues. The younger man's breath was caught in his throat. It didn't matter how many times he looked into those piercing eyes, every time it was like the first time for him. He wished he could do more, express exactly what he was feeling. But it was impossible. He had learned that a long time ago.

The older Kentucky cousin looked at Nick. He was so young. His eyes could show you the happiness and animosity that was characteristically of the blond. His love for life and how he could enjoy every single moment. If anything Kevin admired that in his younger friend. His innocence was still there. He hoped that he'd never loose that.

Nick's heart jumped and skipped a beat as Kevin slowly smiled at him. His eyes were sparkling with tenderness as the corners of his lips started to twitch up a little bit in a shy and delightful smile.

"Hey." Nick's voice was as steady as he could muster it in that moment, afraid to show his feeling to the object of his affection.

"Hey. What happened?" his eyes were still focus on Nick's baby blues. He was looking right into the younger man's soul. Even now it amazed him everything he could see there.

"You fell asleep. AJ wanted to know if you were coming with us clubbing." The younger man said looking straight into the sea green eyes of the older band member. Sometimes he wished he could look at him and see what the other man was thinking. How could he possibly endure everything he did? He had the schedules at bay, every little thing the guys had to do was already filed in Kevin's mind. His constant need for things to be perfect. If anything Nick was complete in awe at his friend's skills. Then again, he act so different and inconspicuous sometimes. His intentions, a mystery to the guys. His ideas, unknown.

Kevin sat down on the couch and slowly stretched up, cracking the articulations in his elbows. "Nah, I think I'm gonna hit the sack early tonight. I'm truly dead."

"You sure?" he had hoped to catch a glimpse of him in the dance floor. His lithe movements could be hypnotizing to him. The constant hours in the gym visible under the tight tank tops Kevin would usually wear for the club. He was thankful for the hot atmosphere that run in those places.

"Yeah. We have to catch an early flight tomorrow. Be thankful that I could convince management to at least let us spend the night here."

"How early?" wondered AJ who had already found the desirable pair of shades, which had been stuck between his shirt and something he didn't recognize as his.

"Eight. We have to be at the airport by seven thirty. We'll have to be up by six thirty, so if you are going clubbing, be sure to get back before two."

"But--"

"But nothing Alex. The last thing I need is one of you over sleeping and us getting late to the airport. We've had to change flights one too many times for my liking. Before two or you are not going at all." Ordered Kevin. His voice was firm and completely confident.

AJ glared at his older friend, knowing better than to say anything against it. He had heard that tone in Kevin's voice more than once before and knew, from personal experience, that arguing with him would only cause him trouble. Besides, he could very easily arrive a little bit later and he wouldn't know.

"And don't you dare arriving later thinking I wouldn't know. I'll be up at 2am waiting for the four or you. If you're not in your rooms by that time, so help me God." His eyes fixed with the AJ's brown pair. He knew it wasn't fair from his part to do it, but AJ would just try to bend the rules, not enough to brake then, but enough to try and give Kevin a hard time.

How did he do that?! How did he manage to know exactly what he was thinking!? Looking again at his friend, he nodded. Better try to do it another time, when the 'older man' was a little bit more out of it.

Kevin gave a knowingly smile to his friend. It wasn't fair at all, but he had to use some tricks from time to time to keep the guys in line.

"Lets go guys. You can change and shower in your rooms and then go clubbing." Announced Kevin, never leaving his on charge mode. Someone had to get the things done and who better than him, right?

The guys all groaned, but stood up and started picking up their bags and made their way to the door. Kevin waited for them to leave the room before looking at it one more time, knowing that everything was in place and that they hadn't left anything behind, he closed the door and walked over to his friends.

*****

The limo ride was uneventful and they managed to pass the fans without anything much but a couple of smiles. As each one of the guys walked over their respective rooms, Kevin looked at them and decided to warn them one last time.

"Remember, before two. I'll be up, don't doubt that." His voice stern, making sure the guys knew he wasn't kidding.

They only nodded and got into their rooms.

Kevin smiled to himself and opened his suite's door. Leaving his gym bag on the bed, he made his way to the bathroom. He was tired, but dyeing for a shower. After about half an hour in the shower, he walked over to his drawer and pulled out some black boxers and put them on.

Hunger taking over his senses, he decided to check the small fridge on the living room area. As he opened the small door, he realized that there was only one bottle of wine left. Picking it up from it's secluded place in the cooler, he moved over to the cupboards and picked up cognac glass. Bottle in hand, the dark haired man made his way to the balcony. Opened the French doors and walked outside. The air itself was cool against his tanned and warm skin from his recent shower. The moon could be seen in the darkness of the sky.

Kevin looked at the bottle. The dark color of the glass made a striking contrast against the vivid color of the liquid that was held inside. Uncorking the bottle, he poured some of its contents on the transparent glass, filling just half of it. Looking at the bottle once again, he noticed that there was barely another half glass left. Not enough.

The smell of the aphrodisiac was almost intoxicating. It didn't matter how many times he had smell it or had tasted, every time was like the first time. Moving the glass in hand in circle motions, he looked at its denseness. Cold and inviting. Without further stretch, he moved the glass to his lips. With one last inhale of its unique scent, he drank the liquid at once.

Retrieving the cool glass from his flesh, he moved his tongue inside his mouth, tasting the remnants of the liquid within his teeth. As he moved it to his front teeth, he could sense his already large fans in it. It's sharpness standing proud.

He looked over at the city. The street lights visible from his position in the 39 floor. People going on with their lives like nothing estrange could ever happen. He envy his ignorance sometimes. Having face so many things over the years, he knew what he was against out there. Thinking about the last few days, he realized that it was a week since the last time he had fed.

'No wonder I was so tired tonight.' He thought.

It wasn't healthy not having fed in such a long time. Saved blood was good, but there was nothing better than running blood from a recent victim. Knowing he'd have to leave soon to hunt, he poured the last remnants of the dark red liquid in the glass and finished it.

Corking the bottle once again, he placed it back into the fridge -- he'd need it soon. Picking up some clothes from the drawers, he got dressed fairly quickly. Long sleeve shirt, jeans and leather jacked -- all in black -- he made his way over his suitcase. Putting on his black leather gloves and dark shades, he was ready to leave the hotel. Looking at the clock he acknowledged the time. It was just 11.30pm, he'd be back before two.

Picking up a black back pack - knowing it'd come in handy -- he made his way to the door. He got his key and wallet and left the room. Only a dark shadow could be seen walking through the hallway.
