Hi Everyone,
For cookie jar collectors now is a good time to check your local WB Store every other week or so. They have been clearancing the 1998/99 jars in the two closest to us. We picked up some nice ones. A K-9 to go with our Marvin, the Taz cooking Bugs, and Pepe and Penelope back to back. Since they are stocking Christmas they have had to move a lot of stuff to make room. They make nice presents too! They have also had lots of other goodies.

Looney News

  • The Spilsbury Puzzle Co. catalog has several puzzles in it. A Bugs Metallic jigsaw with 500 pieces for $19.95. Also Tweety and Taz 3D head puzzles. These are sort of like the Rubiks Cubes but easier. $7.95 each. They also have some slide puzzles on their site. URL: http://www.spilsbury.com PH: 1-800-772-1760
  • Scalliwag has the 3D mini puzzles for sale. Bugs, Taz, Tweety, and Sylvester at $6.99 each Canadian. Yes they do ship to the US. This is the only place I have been able to find these so far. URL: http://www.intranet.ca/~karinb/p3d.html
  • The Lighter Side catalog now has a website. They carry gift type items for the most part. It is easiest to search the site for the characters name-it is very slow though! They have the Tweety Christmas flag and the musical Star Tweety plush. They also have some ornaments. URL: http://www.lighterside.com/
  • There is a Mi-Looney-Um Cotton Candy machine out. I haven't found it in any stores yet but it will probably be in Mervyn's and Gottschallks with the rest of the Salton line(I am assuming it is by them, the box is the same). You can see a pic of it on ebay at http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=194999536 .
  • For those who collect Salt & Pepper Shakers or Cookie Jars there are two national clubs for them. The National Novelty Salt and Pepper Shaker Club is located at http://members.aol.com/spclub1234/index.htm and has a newsletter and holds conventions. Dues vary. The American Cookie Jar Association is located at http://www.cookiejarclub.com/ . Dues are $20 a year and it has a newsletter and they are planning a convention in 2000. They also have a forum on their website and For Sale section. If you join either please mention Diane Bass as your contact.
  • The USPS stamp for 2000 has been announced. It will be Wile E. and Roadrunner. I was kind of hoping for Marvin with all the graphics of him they have been using. Check it out at http://www.usps.com/images/stamps/2000/rrunner.htm .
  • I recently received the press release below concerning the Columbia House Looney Tunes tapes. It answers most of the questions that I have been asked about them.

re-tv VIDEO LIBRARY GETS IN "TOON"

WITH THE RELEASE OF

LOONEY TUNES:

THE COLLECTOR’S EDITION

This Definitive Home Video Collection Of Looney Tunes Classics Only Available By Calling 1-800-638-2922

NEW YORK, NY -- "Ehhh, what’s up doc?" "Yeah, sufferin’ succotash! What’s all the ruckus about?" "That’s what, Ah said, that’s what I want to know." What’s up, Bugs Bunny, Sylvester and Foghorn Leghorn, is that re-tv Video Library is releasing the definitive collection of America’s favorite cartoons, Looney Tunes™: The Collector’s Edition, and all the celluloid favorites are going to be there. From the first time Bugs Bunny made that wrong turn at Albuquerque and Tweety "tawt he taw a puddy tat", the laughter hasn’t stopped, in fact it hasn’t even slowed down. (Arriba! Arriba!) Although a lot may have changed since the first time these classics hit the big screen, things haven’t changed all that much in the land of Looney Tunes; Wile E. Coyote is still in pursuit of Road Runner (Beep! Beep!), Yosemite Sam is still a-hootin’ and a-hollerin’ and as always "it’s wabbit season."

Now re-tv Video Library has gathered the best cartoons from the Warner Bros. Looney Tunes library in Looney Tunes™: The Collector’s Edition. The collection features all of the adored Looney Tunes characters in some of their most memorable performances and also showcases the accomplishments of some of the cartoon world’s greatest talents, including Mel Blanc, Chuck Jones, Tex Avery, Bob Clampett, Robert McKimson, Carl Stalling and Friz Freleng. The introductory volume of Looney Tunes™: The Collector’s Edition, available for just $4.95 plus shipping and handling, features 15 wacky cartoons, including three never before released on video. Fans will then receive subsequent volumes -- each containing at least one cartoon never before released on video -- for just 19.95 plus shipping and handling. Specially packaged in deluxe clamshell casings, each video includes liner notes full of fascinating facts about the featured cartoons. Consumers, ah said, consumers can only obtain Looney Tunes™: The Collector’s Edition by calling 1-800-638-2922.…..That’s all, Folks!

Brought to consumers by Columbia House Video Library, re-tv is the best source for true aficionados to acquire definitive collections of their favorite programs on home video. It offers over seventy Collector’s Editions, which contain episodes restored to the highest quality possible, and include scenes rarely found on syndication broadcasts. Collector’s Editions cover all genres and include: Star Trek®, I Love Lucy®, Sanford & Son, All in the Family, The A-Team®, The Twilight Zone®, and many more.
