Walt majored in sculpture in his college days, drifted into retail sales, and finally into manufacturing. At the age of 30, Willey decided to "chuck it all" and moved to New York to become an actor. After stints on "Another World as James LaRusso and Joe Novak on ABC's "Ryan's Hope," Walt joined the cast of ABC's "All My Children" in 1987, originating the role of lawyer Jackson Montgomery. Walt branched out into stand-up comedy in 1989, and has headlined across the country, from Caroline's in New York to the Comedy Store in California, closing with his original song/soap parody, "Here In Pine Valley." In 1993, Walt co-hosted "The 20th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards," with co-star Susan Lucci. He also co-hosted the 1992 "Ford Supermodel of the World" with Beverly Johnson and Ashley Montana, and again in 1993 with Rachel Hunter. Willey was co-host of ABC's coverage of the 1994 "Tournament of Roses Parade." In June of 1994, Walt first produced the live variety show known as the "No Soap, No Opera" tour, taking daytime stars on the road to showcase their musical talents, a side of these popular actors the public rarely gets to see. The critical and commercial success of the venture encouraged Walt to continue the tour. His other projects include appearing as himself, in comic-book form, in Valiant Comics "The Second Life of Dr. Mirage," a project he conceived and presented to Valiant. When not working in New York, Walt resides in Santa Fe, New Mexico, with his wife, Marie, their son, Chance, and daugther, Merit. They are owners and operators of the Crystal Mesa Farm Guest Ranch, which features an avian rescue center and petting zoo. They also study and breed African pygmy hedgehogs.
