For those of us who adore the pink plastic flamingo and other crazy, tacky flamingo collectibles, I have compiled a list of sites where these birds can be found. Take a look at all of them - it'll brighten your day!
Do friends and family think you're crazy because you are addicted to these pink birds? Well now there is a place you can go to get support from other flamingo fanatics. Set up a membership with the Delphi Forums and then visit Flamingo Fanny's to get information about the newest collectibles and flamingo finds. You can visit without signing up but you can't post messages unless you're a member - don't worry, it's free!
On Stagnant Pond is a great place to visit for any flamingo lover. It's hard to describe this site, you just have to go there and see for yourself. You'll follow the travels of the pink plastic duo, Fred and Pinky Lee, you'll see crazy flamingo pictures, and you can read about a flamingo adoption. You'll most certainly have a wonderful time.
Are you interested in sending a unique kind of present? Then you must visit one of the internet sites that offer to decorate yards with the pink plastic flamingo species! One site is Flamingo Surprise, where their slogan is "instead of a card, say it in the yard". While there, click on the Your Own Business link and find out how you can have your own yard bird business. There is also a Canadian site where you can call 244-PINK to order a pink surprise or get info on doing this type of thing in your own city. Jill, who runs A Greeting Yard in the Ozarks, informed me of the "You've Been Flamingoed" site where they offer links to lawn decorating services in all the 50 states (she's listed under Missouri). So no matter where you live, you can send a pink greeting to unsuspecting friends and relatives.
If you simply must have a set of the Don Featherstone original lawn ornaments (and who doesn't?), go to Off The Deep End's Flamingo Mania site and browse thru their gift shop. You'll find every kind of flamingo product that you'd ever want to have on these pages, and all for a good price. There are many other sites where you can purchase flamingo collectibles ... and they are all listed on my Flamingo Links page.
These wonderful sunglasses, along with many other styles, are available by emailing Sue-B of Glitter Glasses. Aren't they great? These have palm trees and flamingos on them, but there are others. Click on the small picture to see a full-size shot of these and other glittery glasses
Need a pink cocktail? There are several named after the pretty pink flamingo. Here are just a few from the Bar None site:
Pink Flamingo #2 Southern Pink Flamingo
Visit the Society for the Preservation of the Pink Plastic Lawn Flamingo to see travel pictures of my favorite pink bird. When you're done traveling with the society you can join Pinky on the Peace and Pink Feathers Tour. These birds really get around ... and not just in the tropics. However, not everyone loves the P. Plasticus, and I feel I should mention a site with a differing view since I thought it was so funny. It's the "I HATE PINK PLASTIC FLAMINGOS" site. Just remember, this is America where all sides of any discussion should be heard, so visit, enjoy it, and don't get upset. As the author says, it's just for fun.
