MLV
Memory Loader Verifier
The Memory Loader Verifier or MLV was TI's first microprocessor controlled military product. It was a test set for rapidly loading software into military aircraft out on the flight line. Previously when software needed to be updated or changed for a particular mission or the software just crashed, the computer had to be removed from its aircraft, loaded in the shop and then reinstalled in the aircraft. This often was a lengthy process requiring hours. The MLV reduced this to minutes. Also the MLV with its new microprocessor design could be easily adapted to load any aircraft computer.
I was in charge of its design and integration first on the Navy's A-7 aircraft. I next became its program manager but spent so much time out on the road marketing it to computer manufacturers, aircraft manufacturers and the military, that I stepped aside to market it full time. Being first to market with a much needed, capable and reliable product, we had a window of opportunity that I took advantage of. The TI MLV became the preferred standard MLV for the US Navy and Air Force. It was used to load 25 different types of aircraft in 12 countries and netted TI over $125 Million in revenue.
