We love the park. Slides, swings, ladders, running amuck ... whats not to love. We have two favorite parks, Hugh Mcrae Park and Empie Park. We like it best when the parks are filled with other kids and we get to make new friends. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

There are also parks that dont have swings and slides, but are still fun. You can visit Fort Fisher State Park and see a civil war museum or climb up on a real civil war fort. Across the river is Fort Anderson, another civil war fort, built on the site of Old Brunswicktown, a revolutionary war era town. At Carolina Beach State Park you can camp along the river or hike through the maritime forest and visit the largest sand dune in the area, Sugarloaf. Its a 3 mile hike, but the trail crosses the marsh, drifts along the river, meanders through the woods and passes through some ponds before returning back to the beginning.
