Note: A typical package of 2 adults traveling with 2 children, including estimated auto rental, would equal $236US, or $59US each. Given, only recent, standard bus tours, which run once a week and are no bargain for their, only, two stops at the reefless Lagoon of Xel-Ha (or equivalent), and Cobá, plus a single rest stop set amidst a souvenir stand -and the time spent picking up and dropping off other passengers at numerous hotels- the Definitive Package is, especially, somewhat more than just a bargain and is, hopefully, what you are coming for:
The shoreside reef snorkeling requires no boat, and offers levels from baby pool up to whatever level one might wish. Two of the Definitive's stops are Maya-Managed and are the products of much work over the years with friends who can be yours. Whether cave streams or jungle lakes, freshwater opportunities for refreshing swims are interspersed throughout the itinerary to offer just the right combination of bathing, ruins (both: miniaturized and monumental) and Maya -the whole of which traces an historical context of rugged independence. No other itinerary offers the variety of wildlife. While monkeys are assured, dwarf deer, toucans, ocelated turkey, eagle, cougar and jaguar can be, and have been, sighted -even the most rare Harpy Eagle.
Customized Bus or Jeep Caravan Excursions are NOT available on this itinerary which allows only 8 persons maximum/day -or the monkeys may themselves decide to take a hike.
