those with the "Legg" surname from the Isles of
Scilly, Cornwall, England & their descendants.
Relationships have been calculated from baptismal and
marriage records, 1841 - 1891 census data, and
information supplied from others. The connections from my
own direct line have also been confirmed from appropriate
UK birth, marriage & death certificates. It appears
that all Legg's are probably descended from either
Gilbert Legg who married Anne Nichols on 1 October 1729
(and whose descendants were initially mainly based on St
Mary's island) and Walter Legg who married Anne Stephens
on 21 December 1738 (whose descendants were initially
mainly based on Agnes island). The latter are more
difficult to identify. The inidividuals are all listed in
the table below where relationships are identifiable;
while those for whom the parentage is not clear are
listed at the end. If you have any corrections or additional information on these individuals or any of their descendants, please email gjlegg@hotmail.com. Recent information on births etc for living persons is not included on this published page, although they are included on my private files. My own particular ancestry is via two Legg lineages from my great grandfather Frederick Legg back via (i) William Legg, Tobias Legg, James Legg & (ii) via Mary Woodcock, Fanny Legg, Zacharias Legg - with both James & Zacharias being sons of Tobias Legg & Gilbert Legg. they have the same paternal ancestor) For those Legg's
