Died: 10 March 1916 at Wesley Cottage, Heamoor, Madron, Cornwall,
England (Penzance district), age 74, of a cerebral haemorhage
(Brother Edmund was informant on death certificate).
Parents: Tobias Legg and Elizabeth Davis.

Penrose Terrace, Madron (in Penzance, Cornwall) with all
children & mother Fanny Woodcock.
- In 1901 census was living at Wesley
Cottage, Madron, Cornwall with two daughters, mother, William (retired) & a boarder Emily B. Bothall (29

Died: 2 December 1891 at Hugh Town, St Mary's (age 79 - found
dead, presumably of heart failure per coroner's report).
Parents: James Legg and Elizabeth Chapman.

- Both Tobias & Elizabeth signed their
names on their marriage licence. Witnesses were William
Davis (father of wife) and Alexander Gibson (husband of
Tobias Legg's sister, Joice).

Cornwall.
Maiden name: Elizabeth Davis.

Legg on 5 July 1841 at St Mary's, Isles
of Scilly.
Died: 16 November 1885 at Old Town, St Mary's, Isles of Scilly,
age 70, of "stomach disease".
Parents: William Slayton
Davis and Mary Elizabeth Robinson.

- In 1851 census was living at #37 Hugh
Street with son William. Husband
Tobias was listed as a master mariner (away at sea on
census night).
- In 1861 census Tobias Legg age 48 is living with
Elizabeth Legg (wife) age 45 and son Edmund age 9 at #66
Hugh Street; along with father William
Davis, nieces Sarah (age 16)
& Jemina (age 15) DAVIS (both dressmakers), along
with lodger/housekeeper Sarah HICKS.
- In 1871 census an Elizabeth Legg age 55 and wife of
master mariner away at sea and born at St Agnes is living
at Hugh Street with son Edmund, age 19 and a draper's
assistant.
- In 1881 census Tobias Legg, age 68 retired mariner (given
as born at Warbstow, Cornwall?), and Elizabeth Legg age
65 are living at Hugh St, St Mary's.
- In 1891 census Tobias Legg, age 78, is living on his own
means at #62 Hugh Street.

- In 1851 census William Davis was living with his daughter

Garrison Hill, St Mary's, listed as a 73 year old
annuitant born at Bishopgate, London.

on the shipping lines from the UK down to South America.
He drowned in 1897 off the coast of southern Brazil when
his ship (the Martha C Craig) was wrecked. Second
marriage was to Jane Kirkpatrick Gibson in 24 Feb 1872,
her father was Alexander Gibson and her mother Joice Legg daughter of James Legg (this later info

McFarland (spinster, baptised 31 December 1795 - father Walter
McFarland, farmer; mother Eleanor.).
Died: 4 June 1867 at Trewinne, St Mary's, Isles of Scilly (age
83, of "old age").
Parents: Tobias Legg and Joyce Tregarthen.

- On first marriage Zacharias signed the
marriage register while Mary made her mark. Marriage
witnesses were James Davis and Avis Legg. On second
marriage Zacharias signed his name while Elizabeth made

BARNES (engine fitter, son of John BARNES, miner).
- Nine girls in the family. Sisters Fanny
and Avis married Richard and Anthony Woodcock who were
brothers, while other sisters Mary married Francis
Woodcock and Jane married Frederick Woodcock,who were
cousins of Richard and Anthony.
- Possibly also a son Jacob Legg baptised on
2 September 1810 (baptism record states to ----- &
Mary Legg).
- A Rebecca Legg is listed as buried at the
age of 3 years 6 months at St Germans, Cornwall, which
would correspond to the second Rebecca baptised in 1820.
(There were no other Rebecca Legg baptisms in Cornwall in
this time frame apart from the two Rebecca's to
Zacharias). However it is more probable that the first
Rebekah (baptised 1818) died young for the name to be
used again, as Rebecca Legg is listed in the 1841 census
as age 20 years, and corresponding age as Rebecca
Stideford in the 1851 and 1871 census's.
- A Mary Anne Legg is listed as buried on 4
October 1832, which may be this Mary.
