You will find Lissadell House approximately 6 km north west of
Drumcliffe. The house was erected in 1834 by the grandfather
of Countess Constance Markievicz (1884 - 1927).
The countess was politically active and joined the revolution of 1916. The famous writer William Butler Yeats, who once wrote a poem about Constance, visited Lissadell House on several occasions. |
