R & R to the Max -- Probably the Best Trip We've Taken....

Oh, a relaxing holiday in the dead of dreary winter. Last summer, before

Madrid, we had our hearts set on renting a villa on the Meditterean. We

bought a magazine, "Meditterean Villas" or something, and did some

research on the net .... we found the absolutely perfect spot. Too bad

though, because by the time we got our act together, we were far too late

to get a reservation. But, we were also far too in love with the place to be

thwarted, so we reserved some time this "winter". It turned out to be

gorgeous .... fabulous .... what a stroke of genius.

Normally, our intent is to set these "travel pages" up as a sort of a visitor's guide. Although this page does include a few links, most of our time was spent just relaxing .... from what we saw, the Costa del Sol is the place to do just that. But, that does mean that this page is somewhat different, in that we actually didn't see much of Malaga itself. But we did see beautiful beaches, fantastic sunsets, and just "chilled out".

Speaking of beaches -- We wanted to visit a nice quiet beach and just look out onto The Med, so we asked about "where the locals go". Ah, "Capobino" was the answer, so off we set, 10 miles down the coast highway. The parking lot was set quite a ways back from the beach, so after parking, we trudged about 1/2 mile to an old lighthouse -- beautiful beach to both right and left. But, "to the left" looked pretty built up and touristy.... so "to the right" we went. Another 1/2 mile walk .... deep sand .... not many people. Then, in the distance, an obviously public beach. As we near the first sunworshipper, we said (but really couldn't yet tell) .... "Does that guy there have any trunks on ?" The answer "Uh .... don't know, but that guy up on the hill sure doesn't !" Well .... ahem .... ok, so we're in Spain, right .... no particular problem, right. This was absolutely the most interesting walk on the beach we've taken .... and during the next two miles, we both got intimately familiar with every crack and crevice .... of our feet. Found some nice shells too .... uh huh.
