Bogota, inhabited by about 8 million people and with a traffic that makes it able to compete with Bangkok. The traffic situation is so bad that it is stated by law that some cars cannot drive in some days and in certain time periods.
The city is located 2600 m. above surface as the slogan says, which you can easily feel as the air is thinner and the temperature is lower than in other parts of Colombia.
The people of Bogota is considered more serious and cold than in other parts of Colombia. Though, their perception of time in not more accurate than in other parts. A well known excuse for getting late is: "I was caught in the traffic!"
Watch out for the taxi drivers, who most of the time try to trick you off by demanding more or take the farest route. Furthermore it is way more expensive to use the taxies in the capital than in other parts of Colombia, also because the distances are huge.
Monseratte, which is a church located on a top hill in the south part is recommended. From here you can get a nice view of Bogota. If you chooses to trek uphill, the trips takes around 1 hour.
In general Bogota has a lot to offer.
