MY FAMILY
Let's see where do I start!!
Well my mum and dad have been married since 1966,
and with six kids that's a minor miracle. Now you might be mistaken
in thinking we are a good catholic family, what with 6 kids and a
name like Sullivan, but that's not so. My last name should actually be
West and one day when I finally find out why my grandfather changed
his name from West to Sullivan I'll be sure to write the tale and
let you all know. But for now I'll just tell you all about my
immediate family.
My dad (Robert or Bob) was born in Melbourne in 1931 (he retired late last
year, much to the chagrin of my mum *grin*). He's the third eldest
in a family of 11 children but one of his older brothers died at 6 months
The number of different jobs he has had in his life are to numerous to mention, but
here is a short selection. He began work at 14 when his dad packed
his bags and sent him down to the stables to become a jockey, needless
to say he was too tall (although not to heavy) by the time he was 18,
for this. So it was at about this time that he joined the circus, YES!!!
you heard me right the circus. With the circus he travelled over
much of Australia. He has owned and trained Greyhound dogs, worked as a Park Ranger
and By-laws officer, and also worked in factories.
My mum (Marilyn) was also born in Melbourne, in 1945 and comes from a family
six. She was working for the railway when she met my dad one Sunday.
He decided to follow her home that day (all of about 20km, which was a
long way in those days) and, as they say, the rest is history. In 1963
they moved in together and it wasn't until 1966 that they were married.
And you can blame my grandma for that because she wouldn't give my mum
permission to get married even though she had 2 children. My mum has been
great influence on my life and I consider myself very lucky to have a mum
like her.
Look here for a photo of me and my brothers and sisters
My older sister Colleen was born in 1963 and in 1983 she married this wacky guy, Barry (whom you might have seen around the chatrooms as slow/guy??). They have 3 lovely girls (sounding a bit like the
Brady Bunch now huh??) Rebecca, Katrina and Jennifer aged, 16, 14, and 12 respectively.
Colleen is a Computer Teacher in a primary school and Barry is a Carpenter/Building Foreman.
I have two older brothers:
Robert (Rob) born 1965, is married to Fiona and has been for 7 years now. They have 4 children,
Teah, Robert (B.J.), Jayarn, and Imogen aged 7, 5, 3 and 2 years.
Rob is a Tanner and Fiona works part-time as a receptionist and also looks after the children.
Gregory (Greg) who was born in 1966, is married to Julie (they were engaged on Christmas day 1997 and married on January 3rd, 1998). They are expecting their first child in April 2000. Greg works as a spare parts salesman and Julie is a Mothercraft Nurse.
My younger sister Kathryn (Kathy) was born in 1971 and was married to Mathew on June 14 1998. She has two daughters, Lani Kate who is almost 2 and Bethany who is 2 months old (at November 1999). She is a Qualified Mothercraft Nurse and works in childcare although at the moment she is spending time at home with her two little sweethearts. Mathew, is in the Royal
Australian Navy.
Now we come to my baby brother, Derren. The problem is that he's not a baby, he's 27 years
old and taller than all of us (Its just not fair). He is the House Co-Ordinator of the Naval
and Military Club in Melbourne and his girlfriend, Bianca, is a University student.
Well thats about it for the family, unless I think of something to add
, which I probably will.....
