"Shall I compare thee to a fair summer's day? ..." Shakespeare
Travellers' notes welcomed here
From the serene lakes at Lake District, majestic towering rocks at Lynton's Valley of Rocks to bleach white limestone cliffs at Dover, I've seen them all. And I dare say that there's nothing quite like Lynton & Lynmouth of Devon, which has been described as "England's Switzerland".
Lynmouth, Devon, south-western England. A quaint English harbourside village blessed with nature and beauty.
Lynmouth
Away from the ravages of commercialism: no Ritz and McDonalds; Lynton & Lynmouth are oasis of ol' charm.
The reward at the end of the trail is Watersmeet. After a tiring hike, reward yourself with an English tea of muffins and scones at this homely cottage set by a meandering stream.
p.s: 600 ft above Lynmouth lies Lynton, an excellent base to explore Exmoor and North Devon. The Valley of Rocks offers spectacular coastal views and if you are lucky, you may just encounter a herd of wild goats as we did. I would suggest staying at one of Lynton's hospitable B&Bs. For a day trip to Lynmouth take a 20min walk down and to get back, take the Cliff Railway up which is hydo-powered.

Stonehenge, Salisbury.
It's perhaps one of London's most famous landmarks, The Tower Bridge, holding its own beside Edinburgh Palace and Covent Garden.
