Vegetation

Vegetation on the islands is a mix of palm groves along the shores, rain forest in basin areas and Dipterocarp forest foilaging the rocky slopes. Some non-indigenous plants like the Casuarinas line parts of the beaches and the front of the resorts. The Casuarina trees (Casuarina equitisifolia) is believed to be deliberately planted for ornamental purpose. Native fruit-bearing trees like the Bayan, Screw Pines (Pandanus utilis) and Badamier (Terminalia catappa) fills the shoreline of untouched beaches.
