Netherlands is small in size, but rich in history and friendly people. I visited a little town in the South, Bergen op Zoom, where few of the people spoke English, but I was always made welcome and everyone was very helpful. It was just before Sinter Klas Day (Dec.6) when I was there and every street was decorated brightly for the upcoming event. Traditionally, children place their wooden shoes at the door to be filled with treats, if they have been good or coal if they have been bad. The shops are filled with tasty delights that would tempt even Richard Simmons.
One of the most delightful experiences was watching the organ grinder and his monkey perform in the village square.
