Montserrat

Often called the Emerald Island of the Caribbean because of the early settlement of Irish immigrants and the lush green landscape, Montserrat is 39 square miles of rugged beauty. Pristine mountains rise as high as 3,000 feet (Chances Peak) and the volcano in Soufrière Hills remains active. Water flows by the volcanic vents eventually reaching Great Alps Falls where you can take a refreshing shower in the mineralized water.

Montserrat has lightly traveled roads and trails through mountainous terrain and peaceful agricultural villages. There are trails ending at secluded, picturesque bays. These roads and trails are excellent for hiking, biking, and learning about the local culture. Montserrat has become a major mountain biking destination and has an international biking festival in November. While hiking through the abundant plant and animal habitat, you will have a chance to see and hear the unique yellow-breasted Montserrat Oriole. The dramatic landscape of Montserrat continues underwater with excellent snorkeling and pristine diving locations.

Montserrat remains a colony of Great Britain, yet retains its unique island culture. The warm friendliness of the people make it an easy place to learn about their way of life. Montserrat has many luxury villas available and we use them for all of our tours. You will see from your trip why visitors return to Montserrat year after year!
