The most famous beach in
Turkey,
Ölüdeniz ("The Blue Lagoon" or "The Dead Sea") is just a 10 km
Dolmus (minibus) ride from Fethiye. On the way you will pass the tourist centers of
Hisarönü and Ovacik in the hills. At Ölüdeniz there are a lot of
pensions, restaurants
and bars, but everything is more expensive than in Fethiye.
Boat trips around Fethiye
When the heat is to strong there is
only one thing to do. Go on a boat trip! "The 12-Island trip" leaves from
Fethiye, but there is also a nice trip leaving from Ölüdeniz.
Kayaköy
Just a short detour from the
Fethiye-Ölüdeniz-road is the old deserted Greek city, Kayaköy. Nobody has lived there
since the "change of population" between Greece and Turkey in 1923.
Calis beach
5 km north-east of Fethiye you will
find Calis. The beach here is several kilometers long. Go by Dolmus-boat, which is
the nicest way, or by the Dolmus which is cheaper and faster.
