Quake II runs even smoother than its predecessor, thanks to the added ability to use 3D graphics cards to their full power. Unfortunately, the game may tend to run a little choppy without a 3D graphics card at high resolution, but this can be solved by changing the viewing area of the screen and lowering the resolution. Quake II features kick-@ss sound and music. There are 3 heavy metal tracks to keep you pushing through the 8 huge areas. The sound effects couldn't be more realistic, the agonized screams of your enemies getting plugged with a Rail Gun are great! One of the things that set Quake II apart from other Corridor Shooter games (Doom games) is that all of the areas are made up of sub-levels. To finish a whole area, you may have to travel back and fouth throughout the sub-levels (Getting a key to unlock a door somewhere else). And after you complete a whole area, you get this cool briefing on what your objectives are for the next area. If you've never played Quake II multiplayer, then you're missing out on life. Just follow the step by step instructions to get join a game using the Internet. It's worth every minute you spend getting it to work, I promise! If you are interested in joining a Quake II clan, check out the clan area to possibly become part of mine. You have to pass my inspection before I let you in.
