Once again the slots have not only been filled, but one was added! This new slot has been filled and the character sheet will be posted as soon as possible. I must admit that for the month of August the only slacker was myself. Server, schedule and personal problems overwhelmed me and prevented much from happening. However, the month of September looks to be very exciting! Ancient rivalries between the players and their home cities are awakening...
The campaign originally had six slots available but there are now currently eight characters, due to pressure from lurkers like youself. Later on, I might have additional slots available, but for now everyone else will have to content themselves with lurking. The Insider's Edition starts off with the events from last month and then offers links to the character sheets of the players. The July session is closed and the information is all in. All of the players who remain have collected their experience and will probably spend it on upgrades soon, which will be marked on their character sheets.
Brandywine is finishing up her conversation with the sailors. Having pledged to protect her, they are bullied into escorting her to Middenheim to find Guiness and a tutor to finish her Wizardly training. She has discovered the name of the Human sorceress who abducted her brother - Alyssa - and assuming the worst, stomps off to confront Alyssa Kophschmerz once more.
Kardak Cragreaher has delivered a speech to the Dwarves he is sworn to protect so stirring that every last one has sworn their lives to resettling the tunnels of the Fauschlag. Nearly every Dwarf in Middenheim is now under Kardak's command. His hope now is not only to resettle, but to completely dominate the entire Fauschlag, creating a City mighty enough to rival the one atop the great rock.
Johann Schmidt entered his room, interrupting the deal between Mickey and Ulrich, one of the big-shot criminals just moved in from Altdorf. After threatening each other's livelihood and general well-being, they are currently trying to beat each other into submission.
Brandywine Stout, continuing the hunt for her long lost brother, Guiness, and a tutor who will consent to take her across the final step to becoming a full-fledged Wizard. Enlisting the aid of a local sailor, she has learned that her brother had a large bounty placed on his head by one of Altdorf's City Councillors. The sailor, being most helpful, arranged a meeting at a local tavern and promises to do his best to uncover more information. Hearing rumors of a small woman who went around early that morning ripping doors apart with her bare hands and slaying foul demons, Brandywine decided to meet this woman. Inviting herself to lunch, she entered Dr. Salvatore Oos's office and home where she now confronted him and Alyssa Kophschmerz.
Alyssa Kophschmerz and Brandywine Stout have spoke in Doctor Oos's dining room, paying the doctor absolutely none of the attention he craves. Brandywine has told of her troubles finding Guiness and a non-sexist and/or racist Wizard to finish her training. It is revealed that Doctor Oos and the Physician's Guild also carries a serious grudge against Guiness. Alyssa offered to meet Brandywine that night at her parent's residence by the Palace. Brandywine leaves for her 14:00 appointment at the docks, shadowed by one of Dr. Oos's servants. Brandywine meets her sailor contact and a couple of his friends in the same dockside bar that Duron Hartmann and Thom are in. The sailor believes that Guiness is a symbol for rebellion against the unjust aristocracy; he and his friends pledge their lives and loyalty to Guiness and Brandywine.
Kardak Cragreacher, Captain of the ten Tunnel Fighters who defend the Dwarf-occupied tunnels beneath the Wynd from Human discovery, has had a rough morning. He woke to find that the midnight patrol has not returned and gathers up his five remaining men to search for it. Entering the sewer stretch of the patrol, he spotted a body floating towards a sewer gate that is about to be inspected by a Human Watch Patrol. Retrieving the body (and one of his less agile men) from the sewer flow just in the nick of time, he discoved that the body is that of a Beastman, hacked up with what could only be a Dwarven war-axe. Hurrying upstream, he found his men along with a senior Dwarven Engineer battling a small horde of Beastmen emerging from the occupied tunnels! Firing a volley of bolts, Kardak and his men join the fray. When two Tunnel Fighters and the Engineer fell within seconds of each other, Kardak felt a cold rage flow over him and, a grim song of death escaping his lips, killed three Beastmen in a row, sustaining a serious leg wound in the process. Kardak Cragreacher and his platoon, all suffering from infected wounds and fearing for their families, reached their homes to find their community decimated. Only twenty adults survived, all the hunters are missing and the settlement must be abondoned. Amazingly, none of the children are missing... except Kardak's. Lini, his old nanny, told Kardak that son and daughter were ensorcelled and kidnapped by the raiding Beastmen and Chaos Sorcerers. Lini saved the underground settlement by running to the Temple of Grungni and fetching Mungrim, the Cleric, who routed the beasts with Assaults of Stone. The children are to be given over to the Shallyan orphanage and surface-dwelling Dwarven families. Mungrim gives Kardak full responsibility in avenging the dead and rebuilding the community. Once healed, he plans to wipe out the Beastman infestation with Engineer support. The mystery of the missing Engineering Student and the identity of the senior Engineer seeking him is yet to be solved
Duron Hartman is currently having a drink in a dockside tavern, where Thom, the Raconteur for his fathers Marine Company, is regaling him with another one of his infamous get-rich schemes based on an ancient legend. According to a story Thom heard once, a lieutenant of Sigmar's, known as the Silver Hammer for the weapon he wielded, was placed along the road to Middenheim to prevent interference during Sigmar's coronation. This lieutenant eventually turned on Sigmar, believing that being sent to the North meant that he was soon to be betrayed. Sigmar's armies crushed the rebellion and the Silver Hammer was taken by a coven of witches, never to be seen again. Thom says that there is a prophecy stating that when the Silver Hammer presents himself to Sigmar newly crowned the enemies of Sigmar and Empire will be uncovered. The anniversary of Sigmar's coronation is fast approaching in three weeks. Thom believes that together they can find the Hammer and bring it back in time.
Indigo Gladerunner, ranging through the Reikwald searching for game to feed his family, comes across a lamed doe in the center of a large glade. Approaching the doe, he realizes the trap too late and finds himself on the wrong end of Adolpus Kaustos's crossbow. Adolphus asks Indigo to join forces with him against the bandits who ruined his throat. He claims that these bandits, to protect themselves from Adolphus, are preparing to occupy Indigo's tree-home and fortify it. Indigo's family is not likely to survive the transfer of ownership. Indigo has just finished scouting the perimeter where three Outlaws are dug into foxholes, observing the tree-home. His parents and sister are oblivious, singing the massive cherry tree into further accepting the home as part of the tree itself. Adolphus is puzzled by why the Outlaws are waiting so long to attack, but Indigo knows why: tomorrow night all of his family, save himself, will succumb to Bran Wa Shin, an Elven meditation period taking eight hours and impossible to wake from.
Johann Schmidt, in Middenheim, is checking rumors at the Last Drop Inn, after acquiring a ring for one-fifth its worth from Eliza, an old rag-seller. Werner Wutend, a bartender/mid-level crime boss, told Johann a number of things. First, one of his "boys" took a job that Johann turned down and ended up getting ensorcelled by a female Wizard. He blames Johann for this loss, but hints at a reward for anyone who will take this Wizard down a few notches... preferably all of them. Second, a Halfling big-shot criminal from Altdorf is holed up in the Kleinmoot across the street. Dozens of Bounty Hunters are said to be after him and Werner does not appreciate so much attention being placed upon the area. Third, Mickey, an Alchemist, is in Johann's usual room, buying supplies for expiriments that may produce new recreational drugs. As Johann learns this, a junkie in the common room dies, overdosed on what Mickey produces already. Peeking in through a conviently drilled hole in the wall of the room, Johann spies a large man bristling with crossbows selling Mickey (the Elf's hair is back to its normal shade of fiery red) a small pouch of rocks for a large sum of gold.
Uthar Nikse, son of Baron Nikse of Nordland, is the youngest and smallest son. He has arrived in Middenheim to pursue the life of a Student, fancying himself a scientist. Pausing by the Temple of Ulric on his way to peruse the Temple of Verena's library, he remembers that he promised his father to attend a few services to see if that would change his mind about the validity of religion.
