Your Smiling Face! Shutter Chance at the Beach.
A tired Kyousuke is returning home from school; he is surprised to find the shoes of several guests in the hall. On entering, he's even more surprised to find several swimsuit clad women. His father is photographing them. After the photo session, the models go off to change, and Kyousuke's dad explains that he sort of had to take this job; the original photographer got involved with one of the models. This kind of thing is common in the modeling world, but the sponsor didn't want any scandal and asked for a new photographer. Besides he owed the guy a favor. His dad gets a call asking about the results. There's one that he thought might be good, but they are going to let him use his own judgment to choose the model. Kyousuke thinks that professional models are a bit daring, but he can't get their images out of his head. The next day at school, Hatta shows the pictures he's taken for the photo contest. The rest of the fellows are really interested in the pictures of pretty girls in other classes that he's taken. Kyousuke would rather look at Madoka, who's staring out the window. He thinks to himself that she's still acting coldly in front of everyone, maybe her smiles to him alone in the hall were a lie. Hatta then shows the prize photos of his collection. He's pasted the face of one girl on a bunch of other pictures. This doesn't impress the other fellows. Komatsu begins to ask Kyousuke a question, but he jumps the gun and replies by yelling that he won't let them take photos of his sisters. Just then, a winded Yuusaku comes in and drags Kyousuke up to the roof. Madoka notices this and follows them. On the roof, Yuusaku is obviously very angry, and Kyousuke is worried that he's going to get beat up, and shouldn't use his power to escape. He's really surprised when, instead of attacking, Yuusaku bows his head to the ground and begs for help. ``Please don't make Hikaru enter the world of show business.'' Meanwhile, Komatsu and Hatta are trying to get photos of the twins. They convince Kurumi and Manami to jump into a flower bed (presumably to get a good ``low angle shot''). The girls do this, but instead of a good shot, the fellows end up getting covered with mud. Madoka has joined the two fellows on the roof and is amused at Yuusaku's worry. He's upset that Hikaru is going to be a model. Madoka hadn't heard that she'd auditioned. She hadn't. Yuusaku explains that he invited Hikaru to a concert, with her favorite band. She turned him down because she has a job that Sunday. She had been scouted by a photographer. Kyousuke remembers his dad's words about what is common in the world of modeling. He imagines a photographer trying to take advantage of Hikaru like that. Yuusaku is relieved to find that Kyousuke shares his concern, but Madoka wonders why the two are suddenly so worried. Just then, Hikaru rushes up. She never expected to find her Darling with Madoka. Madoka explains that they were holding a strategy meeting so that cute Hikaru wouldn't get in trouble. Hikaru is disappointed that they know; ``Did you hear from this thing?'' She tells the full story of her being scouted. It happened when she was out shopping. Kyousuke comments that her story got more and more exaggerated. He imagines that ``the usually noisy Hikaru-chan'' became an idol singer, and he is left standing on the sidelines. He wakes up, worried. He is reassured by Madoka's words to him as they were coming down from the roof. She told him not to worry, she will be going with Hikaru to the shooting to make sure that nothing bad happens. He relaxes playing with the Red Straw Hat. Sunday, Kyousuke's father asks him to help with some of his work. He doesn't want to, and thinks that he has to substitute for Madoka at Abcb. Kurumi has arranged for some other help; Komatsu and Hatta are going to come ``to learn about photography'' from their dad. Kyousuke has to go to make sure these guys don't do anything to his sisters. While they're waiting at the train station, Hatta says that Kyousuke doesn't have to worry about his sisters. ``How am I supposed to not worry?'' replies Kyousuke pointing out the camera taped to Hatta's foot pointing up. Just then, the model arrives and is motioned over by Dad. Komatsu focuses his camera on her, and sees --- Hikaru and Madoka. Hikaru is overjoyed to find out that the photographer is Kyousuke's dad, and Dad is surprised to find out that his son knows the model. Madoka gives Kyousuke the cold shoulder. He thinks that his dad was able to see better on the street than through the audition. They ride the train out to the ocean; Kyousuke is uncomfortable, and Madoka is sitting off to the side by herself. He thinks that his relationship is sort of awkward in this situation. At the beach, the twins are playing in the water with Komatsu and Hatta. Kyousuke is helping his dad with lighting. Hikaru is posing for various pictures in her bikini, while Madoka looks on silently. He thinks that Hikaru truly is cute. Kurumi and Manami have run down the beach and are trying to catch a wild crab. When they both bend over trying to get it out of its hole, Komatsu and Hatta are overjoyed at the photo opportunity. Unfortunately for them, an incoming breaker douses their ardor and washes their camera away. Madoka starts to leave, saying that she isn't needed here anymore, since what they were worried about is unlikely to happen, and Master needs her help back at Abcb. Kyousuke asks her to wait, but can't think of anything that will stop her. His dad comes to the rescue, asking Kyousuke to go ask Madoka if she will model as well. He catches up to her walking down the road. She's surprised at the request, and says he must be kidding, ``I'm not that type.'' Instead of going back to help his dad like she suggests, Kyousuke tells her that, if she doesn't, he'll go back to Abcb too. He's sure that his dad can take good shots if she'll model. If he can't see that, then there's no point in staying here to help. ``But, Hikaru's the model,'' counters Madoka. ``Forget about Hikaru, at any rate. I want you to be the model!'' He thinks that, while he thought Hikaru was cute before, Madoka is far better. Madoka closes her eyes thinking. She then comments that he's acting like a spoiled child, grabs Kyousuke's hand and walks back, smiling, to model for his dad. Back at the beach, Kyousuke is helping his dad as he takes a bunch of shots of Madoka. As he's helping his dad with the lighting, Kyousuke is further impressed by Madoka. That evening, Kyousuke's dad is developing the shots of Madoka in the dark room. He asks Kyousuke what he thinks of his dad's first model photos and comments that this girl really surprised him. He likes the way her expression changes, ``like a cat's eyes,'' and feels he's really lucky to have found her in addition to Hikaru. Kyousuke couldn't agree more. The next day at school, Kyousuke meets Madoka at the shoe lockers. She's surprised that the photos are done. Kyousuke says his dad's a pro and gives her a snapshot. She comments that it sure is a good one, gives it back and coldly walks off. He looks at the photo and finds it's the wrong one. It's one of Hikaru, in a bikini, jumping into his arms. He pulls out the correct one and yells after her that he made a mistake, ``This is the one.'' She just keeps on walking through. The one he intended is a picture of the two walking down the beach, holding hands. He ends up leaving it in her locker for her to find. Kyousuke begins and Madoka finishes the sentence, ``Kasuga completely screwed it up again.'' (In Japanese, he could also be talking about her temper.) She looks out the window at the ocean and the wind blows through her hair.
