Past Meetings: Chapter 7 |
He was wearing a black tuxedo, and since his hair was dark purple, it was difficult to see him. Scratching his memories, Zoi tried to recall his name. He had seen that man before. Purple, purple, from what planet was that color? Let's see. Blue for Mercury, he felt a warm feeling spreading over him when he thought that, but ignored it on purpose, Orange for Venus, red for Mars, green for Jupiter, purple for Saturn. That's it. He is Ren, the Saturnine Prince. He was one time on Earth. Boy, that guy gave me the creeps!
Then, he saw that Ren smiled evilly in the shadows of the Moon court, especially to the Princess of Mercury. A little ting of jealousy awoke in his brain, but seeing the way the Princess had reacted, the jealousy transformed into anger. What has he done with her? If Ren dares to touch her, I'll kill him. Hey, I'm acting like she was mine. What's happening to you Zoi? I guess you will need more than I thought to escape from the party. Suddenly you are falling for a girl you have never seen before...
Then, the ceremony finished, and he saw as the group of princesses entered the ballroom. He followed his friends, who were talking loudly. Endymion had forgotten all the formality he was supposed to show, and was clutching Jadeite's arm, dragging him into the room. Kunzite was without result trying to make him show a little more formality: "Your Highness, I think we should be a little more quiet, since we are ambassadors from Earth, formality is very important, and you... aren't listening to me" he finished with a frown.
Endymion looked at him sternly, and said, a grin in his face that showed he was thinking the total opposite: "Of course, my dear Kunzite. You are right. We should behave like proper ambassadors. So, do you hear me?" he looked at the rest of the generals, "I want formality to be your last name. We are the noblemen of Earth, and we will show this people that in the blue planet, we aren't as animals as they think we are. Understand?" Neflyte nodded, Kunzite sighed, and Jadeite covered his mouth, to avoid his laugh burst to be heard. Zoisite just looked at the door with which Princess Mercury had entered the main hall.
Endymion noticed that Zoi wasn't paying attention, and left Jadeite's side to walk towards his friend. "What's wrong, pal?" he asked.
Zoisite hadn't heard him coming and jumped a little. "Ohh, it's you. Nothing, I was just... you know... looking at the palace?" The Prince wasn't fooled, and grinning, he closed an eye, and whispered, as if telling one of the most important secrets in the universe, turned to his other Generals and said: "Guys, wanna hear a secret? Zoi is in love."
Four male voices interrupted the night's peace, by screaming: "What??" Endymion nodded, and answered: "That's right. Our little brain-pal here has fallen for a girl." Neflyte looked at Zoisite with an eyebrow far over his eye: "Is that true Zoi?" The orange haired General blushed, and looking to the floor, said: "Of course not. Endymion is just making it up."
The Prince smiled, and said: "Then, if I'm making it up, could you please tell me why where you looking at Princess Venus with puppy dog eyes?"
Zoisite opened his eyes very wide, and moving his hands franticly in front of him, said. "I wasn't looking at her. Blondes aren't my type. I was looking at..." he shut up when he realized that he had talked too much.
Neflyte asked, with urge in his voice: "Then who is the beauty that attracted your attention? She must be very pretty for you to have looked at her like that during the whole speech." Prince Endymion said: "Yes. We have to meet this girl who was able to capture this monk's heart. Come on, tell us who she is." Kunzite, seeing how troubled his friend was, interrupted his Prince, saying: "Endymion, leave him alone. He will tell us when he wants to."
The Prince of Earth looked at him wide eyed, and his jaw fell open to the point of pain. Looking at the others, Kunzite saw that his other friends were like that too, and putting his hands with the palm up, in a I'm-clean-I-didn't-do-anything way, asked: "What?"
Zoisite, now forgotten his questioning, said: "You... you... you said...," his voice didn't respond, and he fell silent.
Kunzite looked questioningly at Neflyte, and asked: "What's wrong with you all? You look like you've seen a ghost or something. Nef, what's going on?"
The redheaded General moved his head in amazement, and answered: "You called... you called him...," he also didn't continue, the surprise of the thing shutting down his brain.
Kunzite now turned to Jadeite, who was about to faint for the way his skin was, and asked him: "Jed, what did I say to make you that shocked?"
The blonde general tried to regain his ability to speak, but only managed to say, before putting one hand over Kun's forehead to see if he had fever: "You... you forgot... you forgot the...." His brain disconnected itself, and he just stared at his friend's face.
The patience Kunzite had left disappeared in a second, and turning to Prince Endymion, said, with gritted teeth: "If someone doesn't tell me what's going on, I'm gonna have to hurt you 'til you talk." His aura was clearly visible, and his eyes were sparkling with power.
Prince Endymion was able to recover enough to say, saving the integrity of himself and his fellow Generals: "You called me Endymion. No Prince, your Highness or every other royal thing. Hmm… I think the air of the Moon is very healthy for you."
The white-haired General was taken back with the answer, and realizing what was so surprising, started laughing, carrying along the rest of the crew. When they finished their laughing, Endymion attached himself to Jadeite and Kunzite's arms, and dragged them to the main hall, saying: "Come on guys, this is something worth to celebrate. Zoi's girlfriend and Kun's lack of formality. Follow me!" He blinked to Neflyte and Zoisite, and they sighed in resignation. Then, they followed their prince into the ballroom...
In the meanwhile, Mercury had reached her friends, and tried to hide as much as possible. Jupiter and Venus had hearts in their eyes, and were literally drooling over the good looking guys. Jupiter was now saying to Venus: "Look at that one Ven, Green eyes, black hair, as tall as me. I like him. What?? He invited that ugly green-headed duchess to dance and ignored me? Boy, he needs glasses for not to notice this beauty standing here" she finished, her head smoking in anger. "That Neptunian woman duchess or not, could surely use a Jupiter Thunder...."
"Relax, Jup. You know that men never see what's in front of them unless you make them notice. Besides, you are getting in my way, I can't see with you in there. Move. Oh, look at that hunky guy over the window. Red hair, blue eyes, Oh my God, he's looking at here. Jupiter, how do I look? For Queen Serenity, he's coming, Oh, God, Jupiter, what I am going to say? 'Good night, milord', uff, that sounds so dumb, but ohhh, what can I do? Is my hair right, my make-up still in place? Come on, Jupiter, you are not helping me!!"
The young man had reached the boy-crazy couple, but looking behind them, said: "Would you like to dance, Lady Mars?" Jupiter and Venus face-faulted, and looking to where the man was extending his hand, saw the Princess of Mars. She was accepting, while giving them a I-told-you-so type of look, took the man's hand and started dancing.
The Senshi's of Jupiter and Venus gritted their teeth, and they could hear each other mumbling: "Jupiter thunder..., Venus Crescent Beam...," so they looked at each other and laughed quietly. When they finished, and tackled each other ribs, they looked around. Surprised, they realized that only Mercury was still with them. The rest of the Senshi, were already dancing. They could see Uranus (who had changed into a tuxedo) dancing with Neptune. Princess Serenity and Prince Endymion were waltzing in the other corner of the room, and seemed to get along well. Pluto and Saturn were talking to the Queen, and Mars was dancing and talking happily with her partner.
"Mercury," asked Venus, "What are you doing here? I supposed you'd be dancing with four guys by now." Lady Mercury shook her head, as if awaking from a dream, and said: "Sorry Venus, what did you say?" "I said... oh my God, Jupiter, look who's coming. It's that Saturn Prince, Ren." They failed to notice as Mercury's body stiffened, and her eyes reflected the inner fear she felt.
Ren reached the princesses, and asked, in a voice that made Jupiter and Venus' hearts melt, and caused Mercury to feel like if she was about to throw up: "Excuse me, ladies. Have you seen Princess Mercury?" The heart-shaped eyes of Jupiter and Venus disappeared immediately, and trying to hide their disappointment, answered:
"Yes, she's right... here. Where did she go? She was with us just seconds ago." They were so busy searching for Mercury, that didn't notice how Ren's eyes hardened, and his fists clenched.
However, he just said, in his normal voice: "Thank you ladies. Kindness isn't always joined by beauty. Good night." and left them totally dazed in first-sight love. He knew how their minds worked, and smiled devilishly, knowing that they wouldn't think straight for about half an hour. So he had thirty minutes to find that little princess.
How could she even think that he wouldn't go and search for her before he was chased by the Moon guard? Ren have known the Moon Kingdom for years, and knew exactly how its army worked, and they would surely be notified of Mercury's disappearance, and his insistent asking for her. So, Mercury, it's just you and me for half an hour. I can surely handle you for that little time. When I'm done with you, you will be on your knees, begging for more. He smiled to himself again, and walked in between the dancers, feeling Mercury's aura in the Gardens.
