Past Meetings: Chapter 8 |
What had happened was the following. When Ren was approaching the trio, Mercury hid behind Jupiter, and being much shorter than Makoto, almost vanished out of sight. When the Saturn prince was distracted talking to her friends, she walked backwards, mixing with the dancing couples, until she reached the door that led to the Gardens. She looked around searching for any of her friends, but realized that none of them was in sight, except for Uranus. But, she could see Ren's purple hair moving towards her, and he was in between her and Lady Uranus. Her logical mind quickly analyzed the data, and arrived to a heart-stopping conclusion: There wasn't any possible (or impossible) way for her to reach her friend before Ren could reach her.
Desperately, she looked for a way of escaping, and discovered there was only one: The Moon Gardens. She knew them by heart, so she could easily confuse Ren in the never-finishing turns and rounds that made the Gardens a real labyrinth. The only thing she should be careful about, was the north side of the gardens.
It was a strange place, all full of strange plants. Mercury had once heard it was very similar to the so-called jungle in Earth. Faster than the wind, she remembered that Queen Serenity had one told all the Senshi not to go in there, since it was dangerous, and nearly impossible to get out one you entered the never-ending woods. She also told them that if by any chance they found themselves in the North side, that they should be really careful on what they did, because days, or even weeks would pass before they could be rescued.
Making a decision, she breathed deeply, and ran into the Gardens, her footsteps the only sound breaking the Moon night silence...
Zoisite was standing near his friends, but his mind was in a completely different place. He was trying to find the Mercurian Princess that had captured his attention (and heart, but he didn't accept it) in the welcome ceremony. He had seen a blue glint in the crowd, but with Jadeite, Endymion and his other friends moving around him like flies, he wasn't able to check them out. What he had seen, was that Prince of Saturn, Ren, always very near to the blue spot. A little glint of jealousy could be felt in his heart.
Suddenly, a tickle in his ribs made him stop his searching, and look to his side. There it was Jadeite, with mischievous eyes, that was saying: "Hey, Zoi. Guess what? I knew you would get bored in here, so I got you a partner. She is a Venusian duchess, and here she comes."
A woman with red hair in a long ponytail, wrapped in a braid that reached her waist, walked towards Jadeite. She had red eyes, and wore a really revealing dress. While she walked, she moved her hips a lot more than necessary. Her make-up was exaggerated; her lips as red as her hair, her eyebrows were obviously fixed, and her chins had a suspicious pink color. Zoi could swear that her eyes weren't red, but blue. A strange changing of colors in her eyes as she moved, made him suspect.
"Yes Lord Jadeite," she said in a low but harmonious voice. The blond General smiled, and said: "Just Jed, Dana, just Jed. Remember what I told you last week? Well, here he is, my friend Zoisite, Lord of Crystal." Jadeite made a graceful gesture, and bowed, waiting for Dana to speak.
However, time passed, but nothing happened. He opened an eye, and looked at the Venusian duchess. She was staring behind him, and was quietly laughing to herself. "What is it?" asked Jadeite, very confused. "Zoi, what are you doing? Hey, where are you?" The General looked mixed-up, and moved around like a dog trying to catch his tail. "Man, where are you? Look Dana, I'm sorry. This wasn't suppose to happen. Zoisite was with me just seconds ago before you arrived."
"Hey Jed," answered Dana, "don't worry. I'm sure you'll make a much better company than he would be. Now come here, let's dance..."
