When schools begin to open up And teachers start their teaching, The students begin working t’wards The goals they’ll soon be reaching.
But of the goals that one could set None could yet surpass The pride and glory of being ranked Number one in class.
But if one studied constantly It would all be in vain. For no one could be smarter Than Charlie Megabrain!
When Charlie was a little boy He wasn’t very bright. And if you asked him anything He wouldn’t get it right.
But then one night it happened As he lay down in his bed. An asteroid crashed right through the roof And struck him on the head!
And then what happened after that You just will not believe, His IQ went from forty-five To three hundred thirty-three!
His parents rushed into the room When they heard the sound of trouble. And there lay poor ol’ Charlie Unconscious in the rubble.
“Call a doctor! Call a vet! Call the National Guard! An asteroid’s hit poor ol’ Charlie And his head is now enlarged!”
They rushed him to the clinic; Tried every test devised To see why poor ol’ Charlie’s head Was twice its normal size.
After many weeks of testing, The doctors had to say, The size of poor ol’ Charlie’s head Would always be that way.
With shattered hearts and tear filled eyes His parents sat and stared And tried to comprehend the facts The doctors had declared.
The sadly rising from their seats They walked to Charlie’s room And closed their eyes and bowed their heads As if it were a tomb.
“We have some bad news Charlie dear, Your heads beyond repair.” Then Charlie said these words to them, “E=MC2”
Yes, that was it! The turning point! That day they lost all fear. For Charlie went from stupid clod To Time’s Man of The Year!
And as he grew throughout the years The smarter he became. And not a thousand books could hold The knowledge in his brain.
But though he gained this new found wealth He suffered quite a loss. For he started treating other kids As if he were their boss.
He knew he was the smartest one To have ever walked the schools. And so he thought the other kids Were just a bunch of fools.
“How can I learn in such a place? I think I’ll go insane! The children here don’t know a thing But how to write their names!”
“Charlie!” cried his loving mom. “I need to talk to you. Will you sit down and tell me why You treat folks like your do?”
“You think that you are quite a guy Oh, such a brilliant gem! But son you are no better Than all the rest of them!”
Charlie bowed his head and wept He knew he was to blame For the loss of all his friends And now he felt ashamed.
And then in spite the doctors And all those tests devised, Charlie’s head began to shrink Back to its normal size!
For during all those many years The doc’s had been mislead. For it was Charlie’s massive pride That gave him a swelled head!
