You have to admit that the opening theme song of
YuYuHakusho is just too legendary to be true. And
that the music is also what makes YuYuHaksho so good.
The names of the songs may sound silly in English
but then most of the lyrics don't make perfect sense
either, so it doesn't matter. The aim of the game is
to make good music, which has been accomplished. For
the entire run of the Anime, Yu Yu Hakusho had been
one of those few Animes which had used the same
opening theme. I think the record is Dragon Ball Z
with "Cha-la Head Cha-la" played through the whole
400 episodes or so of the anime. They were both from
a period of Anime history where theme songs cause
revolutions. (The op/end songs on the left
are movie clips! The songs are down below.)

Below are a list of CDs I know exist somewhere with songs
borrowed from
Kurama-sama Sound Bytes,
Chibi Saiyaman's Music Hits Collection,
YuYuHakusho Musics,
AldeNet and
Pysho Shonen.
Some of the songs are in mp2, mp3 or wav format and need an
MaPlayer to work. You also need
RealPlayer for the RealAudio files.
There should also be more CDs in existence, so please
e-mail me
if you know of any.
Here are the CDs:
Original Soundtracks
- The Original Soundtrack - What it says, with the
opening theme song
Hohoemi no Bakudan (Explosion of a smiling face - wav format)
and the closing theme song
Homework ga Owaranai (Homework never ends - wav format).
- Original Soundtrack Vol 2 - Mostly BGM, with one vocal;
the third ending song
Unbalanced Kiss (in mp2 format).
Theme Song Albums
- Yu Yu Hakusho Supa Kupazu (Super Covers) - This
has the opening theme and all ending themes of the anime,
including a mini-drama with all four characters and Botan. A
must own. This has the fifth ending song,
Daydream Generation (in mp2 format).
- Music Battle One - drama album with heaps of talking
and also some singing. Basically an excuse to make an Anime CD,
but has the second ending song
Sayonara Bye Bye (Good Bye X 2 - in wav format) on it.
All main character voice actors present except Hiei.
- Music Battle Two - Sequel to Music Battle One, needless
to say. It has another bunch of vocals, including the whole cast.
Sensui also sings a song in it and there are less talking and more
singing. Has some nice songs, this one from Kurama;
with the cool name
Kouri no Knife o Daite (To embrace the knife of ice -
Real Audio format). Also includes the fourth ending song
Taiyo ga Mata Kagayaku Toki (When the sun shines again -
in mp2 format).
- Music Battle Three - This has mostly the songs by the baddies
of the anime, such as Toguro and Yomi, etc. It also has the cool
song
Dark Side Stories (wav format) sung by Hiei and Youko Kurama.
- Karaoke Battle Royal - The karaoke version of Music Battle One
- Karaoke CD Collection 2 - This just had to come. I'm
not sure where the music for this comes from; probably a cross between
Super Dance Mix or Music Battle 2.
- YuYuHakusho Super Dance Mix - This is the CD with heaps of
pumpin' and thumpin' music on it. I like some of the songs very
much including
Wild Wind (Remix) (wav format)sung by Hiei and Kurama,
All Right! (Remix) (Real Audio Format) by Yuusuke,
and
Kouri no Knife o Daite(Remix) (To embrace the knife of ice -
wav format) sung by Kurama. The last song will drive most
people up the wall, but it'll grow on you after a while. This CD
seems to include the complete, and I stress the complete
main cast. Tell me that's not cool.
- Legend of YuYuHakusho "SAI-KYOU" - Whooa, this
has been reputed to be the last YuYuHakusho album
ever, and includes the best selection of songs from
all CDs. It also has
some of the ending songs and the opening song.
Movie Soundtracks
- Original Motion Picture 2 Soundtrack "Meikai Shitou Hen" -
Orchestral music of the movie (Hiei sings though!) with theme
songs for each of the 4 main characters.
Nightmare (Real Audio Format)
is by everybody's favourite, Kurama. Also with a song by
Yokoyama Chisa doing the voice of Hinageshi (non-manga/anime
character). Includes the end song of this movie,
Don't Say Goodbye (kind of ironic as the second
ending song is "Sayonara Bye Bye").
Game Music CDs
There should be 4 YuYuHakusho games out on the Super Famicm. There are
2 fighting games, 1 strange simulation battle type thing and 1 RPG-
like-game-but-not. I wonder why they can't just make an RPG or fighting
game instead of confusing us all.
- Musical Ensemble - BGM Music from the first game,
"Yu Yu Hakusho"
- Musical Ensemble Two - BGM Music from the second game,
on the Ankoku Bujutsu Kai.
