The villains of SM SuperS are some of the weirdest ones of all SM history. They are more interesting than threatening. They are known as the Dead Moon Circus (the name says it all). Their mission is to find the Golden Crystal, sealed in the horn of Pegasus, a winged horse. The leader Neherenia once captured him but Pegasus managed to escape to the light of Chibi Usa's dream and appears only in front of her in a glowing aura (he is hiding in Chibiusa's Dream Mirror).

Neherenia orders Zirconia to find the right Dream Mirror (inside a human victim) in which Pegasus is hiding. Dream Mirrors they search in must be destroyed if nothing's inside and the victim is left souless.

In order to get in close with the human victims, the Dead Moon Circus members pose as a travelling circus troupe. They have a huge tent set up in the city, and it is a big hit. The members of the Amazoness Quartet pose as circus performers with their Lemures. Several hundreds of people attend this carnival daily, including the Sailor Soldiers who have not yet discovered the truth behind the gig acts, stunts and clown make up. But will they get Chibi-usa's Dream Mirror? Will Neherenia be able to get her hands on the Golden Crystal and break free from the mirror she is confined in? The Circus may be a place for light-hearted fun, but in truth, it is a dark realm of villains with evil intentions.
