Ever since von Fersen left France, Oscar has entered a state of depresion. Andre, who knows Oscar better than anyone else, senses and understands her suffering.
He finds out and informs Oscar that some troops have started to return from the front lines, and that as of today, there are no signs that von Fersen could be dead.
Oscar seems a little upset and depressed and asks Andre to take her to a tavern where she can drink and forget her sorrows.
After a fight at the tavern, Andre walks Oscar through the streets of Paris. "You are lucky nobody noticed that you are a woman . . . I'll notice it despite that uniform that you are a beautiful woman, Oscar."
At Jeanne's court trial, Andre is the one to stop Oscar from drawing her sword. "Oscar, understand where we are. Calm down!" Oscar can't believe that Jeanne is blaming Marie Antoinette as the sole responsible for the missing necklace. Poor Rosalie, she can't believe what her sister has done: involving Lady Oscar in such a scandalous affair.
Jeanne has escaped, and Oscar and the Empirial Guard are sent out to search for and capture her. When they arrived at the convent, Oscar goes in by herself after telling the guards to wait for her signal. Oscar is attacked by Nicolas de la Mote and as he strangles her, Oscar calls for Andre.
Then there's a psiquic connection between them. Andre, who was waiting outside with the guards, hears Oscar calling him. He rushes in and finds Oscar laying on the floor. She is barely catching her breath.
Just as the convent is about to explode, Andre carries Oscar to the outside and saves her life. They both watch how the convent turns into ashes, leaving behing the truth with respect to the missing necklace.
It's a beautiful evening, and Oscar and Andre are enjoying their daily gun practice.
Suddenly they are interrumpted by a mysterious individual: it's von Fersen and he is back after 7 years of absence.
Oscar invites von Fersen to stay at the Jarjayes' Mansion so that they can catch up on all that lost time. Andre welcomes the invitation: "I think that's a great idea." Oscar's heart is full of happiness, and she hopes to win his heart: "I love you, Axel von Fersen."
But a terrorist attack to the Jarjayes' Mansion ends von Fersen's visit. Fortunately, the glass window that broke behind Andre did not hurt him. (I got scared! But particularly, I like how Oscar worries for him.)
Von Fersen notices that France and its people have changed in those seven years, and we wishes to protect Marie Antoinette from any danger that may arise.
Meanwhile, Andre is terribly overwhelmed by Oscar's suffering. He suffers in silence: to see her dear Oscar suffer for someone she hasn't got a chance with. To see how Oscar ignores what he feels.
Oscar knows that von Fersen's feelings for Marie Antoinette will never change but she also knows that von Fersen has special feelings for her. Afterall, they have been friends for a very long time-- she has one last hope.
