...Not the Nagano Olympics...
I can ski too!
Skiing in Japan is like shopping, there are lots of queues and it costs lots of money.
Not the road to nowhere, the road to the ski resort
A tobacco vending machine. Not getting much business.
At least the weather was good.
It is usually more crowded than this.
This is in Zao, one of the biggest resorts in Japan. There was a three hour wait for the gondola to the top.
I like the way the light reflects off the snow.
One of the few moments in the day when the sun was really bright.
The traffic sign in the middle of this shot is the only giveaway as to what the place looks like in the summer.
A snow version of a Traditional Japanese (Buddhist?,Shinto?) statue.
While I was looking at it two workmen were trying to reattach its arm.
At the pension. The owner told us not to park under these!
The view was occasionally quite good!
The other side of the mountain. Ski the wrong way and its a ten kilometer walk back!
Tried for a while to get some decent action shots of snowboarders,
but none of them were very good!
(The boarders that is, not the photos!)
A room in a pension where we stayed in Yuzawa.
I like the lighting in this.
A waterway with not much water.
The top of the world?
The other side of the top of the world??
I like the way I caught the sun this one.
