Houasyou is one of the more confusing characters in the story(if you can believe that^_^). Houasyou is an enchanted snake that Benares uses to perform Choang-Rin-Rin on Pai in anime volume 4(you don't actually find this out till volume 7). Although it was intended that Pai's memory would be sealed by Houasyou, Houasyou also lost her memory. To Houasyou, Pai's body was her own body. Houasyou's mind controlled Pai's body while the memory of Pai/Parvati was sealed.
Eventually, Houasyou was seperated from Pai and Pai's memory returned. Sanjiyan transformed the snake Houasyou into Ayanokouji Yohko(when Pai and Houasyou were joined she was known as Ayanokouji Pai). She retained her memories, but was given a new body.
Although she was given her own life and body, Houasyou wouldn't be out of Yakumo and Pai's lives for long. Eventually, Yakumo and Pai decided that Houasyou could be useful in their battle against Benares. Houasyou has the power to morph her body and although she regains most of her memory, she refuses to reveal Benares's location until Yakumo gets strong enough to fight him.
Houasyou falls in love with Yakumo. Yakumo finds Houasyou attractive, but of course his interest is in Pai. This doesn't really stop Houasyou though, which really ticks off Sanjiyan sometimes. Regardless of how Parvati feels about her, Houasyou becomes a powerful ally to Yakumo and Pai.
