Hajimimashite Mina-San ! You are the Maison Ikkoku Lover to visit this page since 21st December 1996. This Maison Ikkoku page is a part of Mister Pun's Anime Banquet. Here, I pay tribute to the best romantic comedy anime and manga series ever seen in both the anime and manga worlds ! Even after many sets of mangas and anime series, I still think it is in a class of its own. So sit back, relax and enjoy yourself. Remember to sign my guestbook and please....be a bit patient with the time this take to download.

Maison Ikkoku was first introduced as a manga (Japanese Comic) in 1982. It was written by Rumiko Takahashi who is also well known for her work in Ranma 1/2. It was later made into a cartoon of 96 episodes. The story remains famous even after a decade.

The story revolves around Yusaku Godai's undying love at first sight for his apartment's new manager, Kyoko Otonashi. In the beginning, Godai was only smitten by Kyoko's beauty. But as the story progresses, Godai began to fall in love with Kyoko truthfully. Kyoko is a young widow. Her late husband and high school sensei, Soichiro passed away only after six months of marriage. She being the manager of Godai's apartment, Ikkoku-Kan was arranged by her father-in-law, owner of Ikkoku-Kan.

Godai is a retained student sitting for an entrance exam to the university. He is often taunted by neighbours Yotsuya, Ichinose and Akemi. His room is often used as a mini bar for Yotsuya and the rest to party. The disturbance made by his neighbours serve as a major obstacle for him to concentrate on his studies.....that is until Kyoko arrived who served as a major source of motivation for him. As he once declared ,"I will pass for Kyoko san!!!"

Godai's courtship of Kyoko is faced with many obstacles. Kyoko is unwilling to accept feelings from anyone due to her loyalty towards her late husband. Nanao Kozue and Yagami Ibuki, friend and student to Godai respectively, fall in love with him. A tennis coach Mitaka Shun falls in love with Kyoko too. And hence, the story goes on.......

Maison Ikkoku is an absolutely brilliant piece of work. It warms your heart and makes you want to fall in love. Takahashi Sensei, "ICHI BAN"!!
The cartoon fist appeared in Singapore in 1995. Even though it was placed at the 1.30am time slot, many still followed it religiously, even during the O'levels period. I believe the catoon brought me luck in my O'level examinations. I love Maison Ikkoku !!
