Another train trip.. this one was around 7 hours long and we kept ourselves amused by reading, listening to music, etc etc.... i can't remember anything really eventful happening on this journey, there was some nice scenery though.

On arrival in Barcelona it was 4pm and at the train station I rang some hotels and they were all full. So I decided we should get on the metro to the station 'La Rambla' which is kind of where all the action is and there would be heaps of hotels.

Hotels there were.... lots.... vacant rooms... well that's another story! I trudged into about every hotel, hostal, and pensione around the Rambla and it's surrounding streets, and because I had learnt enough to ask for a room etc. I got to trudge up all stairs and get all the knockbacks from the hotel people. Fun fun fun! We were getting quite tired and desperate and sick of carrying our packs around, so we grabbed the first place where they said yes there was a room! But I should have known better... I did the initial questioning... how much per night etc. .. the lady said 9,000 ptas for a double which was pretty steep for the kind of place it was, so I asked if I could see the room and she slammed her book shut and laughed at me and said "No!!! It is a very nice room with a view of the Plaza" But being so desparate I said yes. This was the "Pension Colon, on No 3 Carrer Colon" in case anyone wants to be forewarned...

I should have known better. This was the shittest, most drab, dreary room we've ever stayed in. A million times worse than teh hostel, except we had a bathroom. The 'view' was of a brick wall down onto the garbage bin on the street... and there was nothing in the room... totally bare and depressing. I was so mad at that bitch !!!

The next day we managed to find somewhere nice to stay, a hotel so it was more expensive but it was worth it to have somewhere nice to sleep on our last few nights in Spain.

The highlight of my time in Barcelona would definitely have been the visit to Gaudi's 'La Sagrada Familia' which is an amazing spectacle, that still isn't completed. Highly recommened!
