The Ladies Room is a project that was created for the Advanced HTML and Website Design internship program at Spectrum Virtual University. This program gathered aspiring website designers from around the world to participate in designing VU's Web of Knowledge. The idea behind the Web of Knowledge was to link together websites designed for specific categories in order to extend VU's "helping hand" philosophy. This site was part of the Global Woman category, a section which was to contain other interesting websites that highlight the diversity of today's women. Unfortunately, for a number of reasons, the Web of Knowledge never really got off the ground and many of the projects were left unfinished. The closest thing I've found to a directory of the websites can be found at the Web of Knowledge Logo project. But even that site's not finished - he forgot The Ladies Room! Oh well. The Ladies Room explores the differences in the way that men and women communicate; the "serious" side can be found in Gender Talk, a page about gender and communication. The Humour page has some jokes and funny essays for a not-so-serious look at this subject. I'll tell you right now that my main interest in creating this site was web design, not women's studies, so if you're looking for a dissertation on gender and communication, you won't find it here. However, I did find some information that you may find interesting and there are links to other sites that deal with the subject in more detail. The Email Lists page is where you'll find resources for joining email discussion groups on topics relating to women and the Grafitti Wall is where I've put up some bathroom grafitti I've found. This is the Ladies Room, after all! You can also write on the wall with a comment or post some grafitti of your own.
Any feedback, flames or flattery, can be sent to roseker@hotmail.com or you can sign the guestbook for all to see. Oh, and if you'd like to visit my personal website, take a trip over to Heartland and stop in at Ladybug's House.
