Lisana's Life

It started raining last night, not long before I went to bed, and the sound must have been very soothing, because I slept deeply, and wound up sleeping late. I got up just a bit after eight (I was up around 6:15 yesterday), so I was too late to catch Jev before class.

I hopped online anyway, and caught up on e-mail and did a bit of web surfing. I need to write Julie and find out her ideal plan for my visit, then see what I can do. I got all my bills taken care of yesterday, and after the third, my bank account will be looking a lot less anemic, so I can afford to have a little fun.

MOm wanted to get groceries and go to WallyWorld, so I got dressed and we braved the rain to do our shopping. I wound up spending over $50 on cross stitch magazines, computer stuff, and pharmacy, but as Mom says, "it's only money." I just hope my flight won't cost too much.

I'd be playing on the computer right now (I'm writing in my Pooh notebook again), but I told it to defrag the drive when we left this morning, around 9:30. Here it is almost noon, and it's at about 75%. Since I can't think of any interesting topics for now, I'm off to stitch.

2:20 PM

Okay, I'm back. One of the things I blew my money on today was the collector's edition Star Wars Monopoly CD-ROM, and after I installed it, I surfed on over to Hasbro's site and from there to the Monopoly site, where I learned something interesting: for the first time in 40 years, a new token will be added to the classic Monopoly game, and they're taking votes to decide what to add. I cast my vote, and if you're interested, you can click http://www.monopoly.com and see for yourself.

The whole Monopoly thing reminded me of something from when I was a kid; I was maybe seven or so, and one weekend I was at my dad's and I guess my brothers and sisters must have had friends over for a party. They got to playing Monopoly, and I think they actually let me play, though I didn't last long, and I stayed up until they finished the game. I remember looking at the clock and seeing that it was 1:30 or maybe 2:30 in the morning, and I thought that was just so great! When I was at home, 8:30 was "staying up late."

I got to do lots of things when I was at my dad's, not all of which he knew about, or would have approved of, like me and a neighbor girl finding a stack of Playboy or Penthouse (my brother's, apparently) and looking through them in the little hideaway we made behind a discarded mattress. I went to a birthday party at McDonald's with the kids next door, without any of my family along (I told Mom later that my 9 year older sister had gone with me), and went on the scary rides at Disneyland, too. Well, I was kinda dragged on those, but I enjoyed 'em!

I did some things I later regretted, too; like swinging a bicycle chain and hitting my oldest sister, apparently because my friend (the one whose idea it was to look through the dirty magazines) told me to, or dared me to. I don't think I even got spanked for that, though I sure deserved it. Dad made me apologize and that was all the punishment I got.

All in all, I think I was pretty well-behaved as a kid. I was a daddy's girl, and when he drifted off in other directions, I really missed that.
