Well, I have to go back to wally world again tomorrow. See, I went today to get my eyes checked out so I could buy more disposable contacts. I was feeling lazy, so I didn't put in my lenses... I didn't think I'd need them. But I got there and the gal at the counter asked if I had them with me. I said no, a little puzzled. She said I'd have to reschedule... they do a contact checkup with the contacts *in* the eyes, no exceptions. So tomorrow will be my third trip for that purpose.

That left me feeling rather foolish for a while, but both Mom and Jev were as surprised as I was to hear that they wanted me to be wearing my contacts. *shrug* So I guess I wasn't completely at fault. But it would have been nice if the person I spoke to yesterday would have made that clear. Now they tell me...

I did get something out of the trip though. I needed some embroidery floss and I got that, and on the way back up front I stopped in the electronics department, as always. Well, I noticed they were putting up some new software, so I looked at all the stuff they had out, but didn't see what I wanted: Microprose's Multiplayer Civ II Gold. So I shrugged and was headed back out when I spied the cart by the register... with gold prismatic boxes. Yep, the software I wanted.

I've seen them have stuff out behind the register before, and they wouldn't sell it because it wasn't supposed to be available for a couple days, and then when I came back later I had a hassle getting it because they'd locked it up in the back room. Well, there was no one by the register, and I figured I could probably have it rung up up at the front of the store, as I'd done with Riven last year, so I was standing there, debating if I should snag a box and head for the front registers.

Guilt won, and I waited until one of the people in the department came around and I asked him if they were for sale yet, mentioning the incident with Riven last year around Halloween. He said sure, anything they had out was fair game. So I grabbed my copy, plunked down the plastic for that and the floss, and headed up to the register a happier girl.

Yes, I did open it when I got home (hey, I waited that long... usually I've got the box open five minutes after I'm in the car... one of the benefits of not driving), and I flipped through the manual. But I didn't install it... partly because my hard drive is a little crowded, and partly because I want to play it with Jev. It'll be a lot easier to do that when he has it on his computer, too. While we're together over break, we'll have two computers we can network, and play games to our hearts' content. It seems once you have it installed, you can play it with any of the Civ II or Civ II Scenario discs in the drive. We both have Civ II and I have both the scenarios, so that won't be a problem.

I answered the really in-depth letter I got from my e-mail friend, about her insights and ideas on what's going on with me and Jev... a little at a time, since it's always a little hard for me to open up that much, and by time I was done I was feeling pretty good. I ICQed some with a friend, had fettucine (fattucini?) alfredo for dinner, then stitched some and watched skating while Jev and I chatted.

Jev's posted his entry, and is off changing for bed. I didn't realize he was heading home tomorrow, but I'm glad he's just about through the semester. Hopefully he'll feel at least as good about tomorrow's exam as he did about today's. I'm sure he'll do fine.
