Family PhotographsJanuary 25, 1998Happy SuperBowl Sunday... Publisher's Clearing House didn't show up at our doorstep, so I guess that means I won't be buying Jevim a new car, hiring movers, or paying the deposit on an apartment near Tech. Ah, well... I didn't really expect it. Today hasn't been a bad day though, even if I am feeling a little lousy at the moment. I ate too much junk over my 'early weekend' and it's my own fault my stomach's been in such a tizzy. A nice tame dinner of fettucine alfredo will hopefully have it happy again before too long, and I can relax and have a nice evening with Jevim. He went off to do homework after lunch today (as did I), and I haven't heard from him since (it has been about four hours or more ago now) and so I've got the feeling he went to watch the Super Bowl. I'm not a football fan, and the only reason I know it's the Broncos versus the Packers is because someone who does web page backgrounds had themes for each, and I just found them this past week. Hmm, type of the fella and there he is. *smile* Well, that was quick... he'd just finished homework and grabbed dinner, and was popping in to ask if I'd mind if he went to watch the Super Bowl. Do I know my boyfriend, or what? *chuckle* Yes, I would have liked him here, to take my mind off of feeling icky, but the Super Bowl is a once-a-year thing, and I didn't want to tell him no. I think I can keep myself entertained for another hour and a quarter, until "Touched by an Angel" comes on... hmm, assuming the Super Bowl is not on CBS. I guess I'll find out soon enough. As for the rest of my day, Mom came home from church and lunch shortly after I hopped offline to read some of my homework materials over. She wanted to go to Wal-Mart and get groceries as well, so I got dressed and went with her. A few weeks ago, she had come across some old negatives, with no pictures from them... some from her old Brownie camera, and some that were newer, but still not 35mm. She took them in to Wal-Mart last week to get prints made of them, just to see what they were, and they were back today. We picked them up at the photo counter and headed back to the McDonalds in the store and took a look at them (I after having had to detour to the ladies' room for my upset stomach). There were a few of Mom when she was really young (fifteen or sixteen, or thereabouts), and more from when she was older. A bunch were of my brothers and sisters, when I was a baby, some of which I don't think I'd ever seen. Mom is good at taking pictures, but she usually gives them away. She said I could send the ones of my sisters to my oldest sister, and I think I might send a couple. There were lots of my mother and her two brothers when they were younger, and more relatives on my mom's side of the family. Interesting to see, since most of the older pictures (which ranged from 30 to 45 years old), I had never seen. I'm almost tempted to see if I can convince my scanner to work again, and put up a small photo gallery. The pictures were the highlight of my day... after we were done shopping, we came home and I climbed in the tub and read, and finally got out when my tummy started grumbling for food. I've gotten a few more chapters into The Left Hand of Darkness and it is still not really grabbing me, but I think I can manage to make it through it, just to see what all the fuss is about. My tummy calls, and I think the pasta needs stirring, so I'll wrap this up... Type to you later!
