A More Perfect UnionJanuary 27, 1998Well, depsite the current scandal flying around Washington the past couple weeks, the President delivered his State of the Union address tonight; and for once, instead of complaining that there was nothing on because the address was on, I sat and watched it. All of it! Actually, I was quite impressed with Clinton's accomplishments, and whether he did or did not do imprudent things with Lewinsky, I think he's done a lot over the past -- six years, is it? I was pleased to hear his plans for improving the educational system, at all levels, from cutting class sizes in first through third grades, even smaller than I would have thought (I had guessed to 24, and he said to 18), to testing students in reading and math in 4th and 8th grades, and giving tax breaks to parents to help pay for two years of community college. I wish had children to take advantage of these improvements. Drat! Jevim just got back from the basketball game he'd gone to see... he was in the first row behind his school's team bench, and ESPN2 was covering it, but I don't have ESPN2. *pout* Watching ESPN now in hopes that they may show a highlight and give me a glimpse of my sweetheart. Jevim just told me to check my guestbook and I did... he's signed it for me. *smile*
